Th end of the 2015 RWC has signaled the end of -
* an era where is SA Rugby the norm for player selection was based on reputation with little or no regard to performance; and
* of the playing style where the emphasis is on all-out rugby and bit the type of rugby favoured by Mozart and DF.
According to Mozart and DF all that counts is goal kicking and other forms of kicking and there is no reference by them to scoring of tries. The game they advocate failed and that is not even now recognized by them. They fail to see the difference between players like Carter and Morne Steyn and in fact place both players on the same pedestal despite the fact that Carter is recognized as the best flyhalf ever and Steyn is not even remotely an international level player. .
But there reaction to looking to the future when the reputation players they adore will be out of international rugby is typical, Mozart reacted by saying the future looks extremely bad - not realizing that virtually all the players they championed in fact failed over the past 14 months in tests. For them looking at the future is just not on.
When pressed about whom he would like to see in the Springbok team of 2016 - DF came p with Francois Steyn at 12 and a consequential need to shuffle around the rest of the backline to accommodate him. When previously challenged about where and when Fransie showed anything to justify potential selection DF came up with fairy tales and Mozart's contribution was that Steyn can kick balls and for some obscure reason frightens the wits out of opposition players, Steyn has had a very poor record over the past three years on Super 15 level - both in attack and defense, but according to them stats do not count in his case because of some obscure reason or another, The man is a dead loss as a player - but according to them he was good in 2007 - so he must still be good in 2016. Another DF choice is Flippie - a player more noted for ill-discipline than performance.
Mozart in fact could only muster his sole attack on Labuschagne - a player he doomed in 2013 before he saw him playing in a single match and he kept on attacking relentlessly since then. He praised another failed player - Alberts - who was a passenger in the WC squad with virtually never allowed on the field of play because he was so poor in all matches he played in since 2013.
I must say I am sorry for the two members - the foundations on which they built there fairy tales of the past went down the drain and they have no real ability to look at the future,
