havent been able to blog much lately, in fact ive only had enough time to check up on mikeys team sheets for my fanatsy team (memo to self, thank mikey, ).
but i couldnt help but feel for JDV and the way he ended his illustrious career.
at his peak he was one of the best players in the world and in the latter patrt of his career, he proved to be an outstanding captain and giving kudos to a back being captain is not something i give lightly.
i have been critical of JDV the last few years though, IMO he should never have been picked for the Boks RWC squad as serfontein is the best 12 in south africa, but i can understand his value.
his situation was in many ways similar to smit back in 2011, players whose past exploits and current captaincy prowess made their selection begrudgingly justified, but to the detriment of the Boks.
but enough of my black belt arm chair criticism, just wanted to say thnx for the memories JDV, wish u all the best in ur future endeavours.
will never forget the JDV fourie centre combo, at its peak it was the only midfield combination to truly hold its own against rugbys most successful midfield pairing of nonu and smith,
thnx again JDV,
