I am now in favour of getting rid of Heyneke Meyer. Losing to Japan is proof that he does not know what he is doing.

His one dimensional game plan of crashball loose forwards carrying up every ball is pathetic.
About 2 years ago, the Springboks play became more expansive- and it seemed to moving in the right direction.
Now it has just reverted backwards into having no game plan. The order of the day is one of ball carriers with no support- so they get turned over or concede a penalty.
Schalk is a terrible in contact these days,
Another problem is would any international coach want to coach South Africa with the increasing amount of quotas being forced on team selection?

They had better sack useless Meyer.....so reliant on old players and the oldest of the lot in Vic cost us the semi with his moment of madness.

Ackerman and Swys de Bruin as a combo to coach the Lions

They have achieved so much with so little and play a great brand of rugby......Oz and Kiwi style.......imagine what they could do with our endless pool of young talent

Our endless pool of young talent that lost in the semis this year. Lost to the Poms last year and lost in the semis to Wales the year before. Yes lets have some more of the "endless pool".

Sure  - how many youngsters were in the games concerned.
Who lost us the semis this year.  In my book the primary losers of the match was Matfield and Schalk Burger and are they part of the young talent in the team?   It was NOT the players you blamed - it was a stupid game plan by Meyer and inadequate execution by the senior players who cause us the loss.
If we evaluate all the games we played in over the past year and cause us to lose matches - you would find a sprinkling of younger players - the main problems were consistent all along.  All along look for the malfunctioning of our forwards and the same names will appear again and again in that deficiency.
Suddenly we were not ready to play Japan - with the most experienced team ever.  I have heard some excuses for that one - but never the above one.  How do you manage to write that fairy tale?

Had it not been for Lood de Jager putting in that bone crunching tackle to prevent the ABs' first try.............. Oh wait..........

De Jager missed that tackle running from the inside because our line wide out was baten by overlaps.  That represented 7 points.  Where did the other points came from?
Burger spilled a ball in the Springboks 22 that preceded the second AB try and Matfield caused a turnaround of a penalty because he was idiotic - what aboutthat - stupid idiot?

I am starting to think that Meyer just wants to choose older players because they have more experience playing without a game plan.
If a coach is not good enough- he should not apply for the job.
Meyer won SuperXV because the Bulls had by far the best forward pack in the competition that could smash the opposition to pieces at Loftus.
The backs were then able to canter in for tries that under13 teams could score.

Very disappointed with Meyer. He makes lots of claims about moving forwardand about players- but we just see the plodders crash balling over and over.
He is now choosing expansive players- to implement a game plan that is the opposite to expansive.

Lood missed a simple tackle for the first try, but JP's rubbish defense gave away the second! Matfield, did nothing in the time he was on the field, except give away a penalty and a knock-on. Schalk, by his own admission played poorly and cost his team. Yet Moz blames the loss on the young guns!Seriously, that comment just makes you look stupid! Some of the older guys played well, others did not! Some of the younger guys played well, others did not.
This old vs young thing is such a crock!!! Players that are playing well, should be included, who gives a rats arse how old they are?

I must have watched a different game then because to me it look a lot like he waved him through in the same way that he waved the Arg scrummie through in Argentine.

You seem to think that you are correct in that idiocy - but you are not - you stupid dunce.  De Jager did not play in the Argentina away test - you stupid idiot.  The locks were Matfield, Etzebeth and Flippie.
So get this story straight - there was a huge overlap and DE Jager made a gnuine tackle attempt - when missing that tackle.  the only player ever waving a player through to score a try was Morne Steyn - see the Barrett try in the Ellis Park test in 2013 as the best and only example of that.

Matfield did nothing. Hmmm I take it you missed his brilliant tackle of SBW just as he was dangerously away. I'm not blaming it on the youngsters Bloo, although I do blame Lomp, as should you for that pathetic tackle.
What I'm saying is the youngsters did nothing to change the equation in the knockouts....we could have played Jannie, Flip, Jean if he was fit, and Frans and probably been better off and certainly no worse off. On the other hand F du Preez, for example, made a massive contribution....as did Vermeulen.
The call for more youngsters was heeded, Perv, Dave and others got the team they wanted. That team failed. The youngsters never came through....no surprise there.

And what about Louw.....scathingly ripped by Pervert and Dave....he was the best on the deck by a mile in either team. Not a word of apology for those who constantly denigrated this fine player.

Dumb Vlag the big difference between Lood’s miss was that not only was the initial mistake made by Habana, but the incident happened in the first 10 min you idiot, with a whole game still to be played versus the stupidity of Matfield knowing full well we had a penalty advantage in front of the posts with 15 min to go……spot the difference you idiot?

Wasn't in front of the posts, wasn't 15 minutes to go, would have negated the Lambie penalty that got us the thr ee points with 12  minutes to go.....an argument full of holes.

If apologies are called for - then you must lead the way.  The list of apologies will be longer than only Louw.  It should include an apology to site members for your constant support of Matfield, Jannie and Alberts to name just three under-performing players. And then you have the audcaity to name Jannie - while lying about Malherbe and to even mention Flippie - what a farce.
Get real and not make remarks that discredit yourself and especially the lack of rugby intelligence on your part.

Oh ok it was 18 min then and are you now stupid enough to tell us that it was not any easy kick more or less straight in front of the poles.

Lambie's other penalty had nothing to do with it......that was an additional 3 points we gained anyway.

Matfield lost us 3 simple points that cost us the game - FACT.....there is NO getting around this very fact.

More to the point why on earth attempt a clean out when you know you have a penalty.....how fucking stupid......and this from a so called leader and player of experience......what a load of bull

matfield alone did not cost us the semi in my book.....we should have created a lot more against a very nervy all black side in my view. as i have said before we lost the game before we went onto the pitch
could see the tactics were very clear...milk the 3 points and try to take it long as possible.....not rwc winning stuff but the imp like meyer does not know any other way.
he is his own worst enemy
all i can say is if saru keeps this incompetent fool we are in big trouble

Either break the piggybank and appoint a top coach...that aren't available locally and will ultimately fail or quit within months. ...or pick the best possible candidate and make him assistant to Meyer for the next 2 to 4 years with the option to take over when Meyer step down. Get a proper brain trust to advise Meyer with tactics and sellections. Get someone else to pick the squad...or fire him and let us all go into hysterics when SARU appoints Coetzee or Sepaka or even some other proven failure...again. In the end we lost against the best team in the game by 2 points...and we were competitive against them during most of the preceding 4 years. All is not lost and there is much room for improvement, but leaving it all up to Meyer for the next 4 years won't work either.

Well I never ... Sharkbok's finally seen the light.

Thought I'd never see the day.

Yes Sharkbok ... Meyer is a clueless ass ... has always been a clueless ass ... it's not going to change either.

Yes Sharkbok ... Mozart is favouring the elderly because he's an old timer himself and the thought of being useless to society really irks him. No other reason.

He has issues.

It's called a decomposing brain.

"The Springboks have one facet, and when that doesn't work they do it again, harder.” Phil Kearns:
That about says it all about Meyer's strategy during the RWC, except for the first t wo minutes of the game.

Meyer own words 2 years ago that to beat the All Blacks you need to use the backline. But he reverted to the one dimensional crash ball runners that allways get isolated.

We see the same stuff each year from our SuperXV coaches. Our SuperXV coaches seem to have no any understanding of backline play. None of our top coaches were backline players either. We may as well get a backline coach from the North Pole or Alaska, because we have none.
If I could choose a coach I would select Robbie Deans. Or perhaps a combination of Plumtree and John Mitchell.

I reckon we need a YES man, appoint a dumb ass head coach (not as dumb as Meyer) who can cop all the abuse regarding the Quota system and all the other BS that is South African sport. BUT, have the rest of your coaching team kiwi's working there magic in the background.

sorry draad i dont think there is room for meyer...his narrowminded approach will drag any team down with him.
he just does not want to change and its a personal trait he has nothing to do with his skillsets. he was a forwards coach his whole career thats the problem. he had ample chance to get someone in to fix the issue did he persue it ??? not at all
ackermann for me with a proper international vetern at this side to steer the boks. maybe eddie jones or even graham henry. we need a massive hospital job to fix this cancer in our rugby but its not just the boks its everywhere and we need a external help as we just dont have the local talent at all

Their is no point replacing Meyer with a South African coach.
As soon as a South African coach is under pressure- they revert to crash ball game plan.
I would rather lose the World Cup playing great rugby- than win with the rubish dished up in the quarters and semi final.
I think when the Boks lost to Japan, any idea of expansive play went down the tubes

100% correct and the reason for that would be the lack of exp....that is why you need that old hands of a henry or jones to help stear the ship in the right direction i feel....
ackermann has massive potential but he himself is a bit green in regards to the coaching role...
i would also prefer a international coach off the bat to be honest but saru is to stuck in its ways to make the hard calls.
the came has gone international but they wont have the vision required to fix the overseas based players ban that they should implement aswell the wont pick a overseas based coach.
mitchell in my view would also change the boks mentality
either mitchell plumtree or jones would be a massive edge to the game

oaks please no kiwis! We really dont want to become netballers!!!! Nor do we want to become cynical!!! We have a reputation to uphold!
We need a top SA coach with a great attack coach who could be an verseas person but preferably not a kiwi!. That is the correct way forward.
Traditional strengths combined with attacking creativity and skills. I suspect watching the test agaisnt nz in SA that we have much more skills and attacking flair than given credit for.
