It was announced over the weekend that the DA in Western Cape has elected Ms Patricia de Lille as provincial leader of the Western Cape and that they are supporting the election of Mmusi Maimane as national leader of the DA. As the Western Cape and Gauteng are the strongest DA provinces it is likely that Maimane will be elected as National leader.
It is no accident that the DA now has a Coloured as Western Cape Leader and will likely have a Black as National Leader. That would remove the constant racial slurs of the DA by other parties and could substantially broaden the support base of the Party.
