I wonder what happened to Duhan van der Merwe.  He went to the Bulls and alst year played for their Under 19 team.   He did quite well as far as I can remember, but his name is missing from the above - wonder why.  Sorry I read the article afterwards and Van der Merwe and Rikus Bothma were not invited because they are currently injured.
I know about JT Jackson, EW Viljoen and Edward Zandbergh.   Any of the other kids you know about?

Are all potential players that I'm guessing you've never heard of. 
One position I'm hoping we get a star is scrumhalf, we desperately need a scrumhalf that has a good rugby brain as well as ability to snipe.

 Gelant isn't a center, he's only being played there because the Bulls already have Jesse Kriel and Visser at fullback. I hope Theron plays him at fullback because he is a fine player although he didn't shine in the JWC 2014 he's got an abundance of talent.

 Dewald Human and Innocent Radebe are both miniature flyhalves with a ridiculous step and attacking nous but I don't know how good their kicking is.

I obviously know about Daniel du Plessis - I believe Carel du Plessis's son.  He was in the squad last year and played from the bench a couple of times.  As far as I can remember he initiated one of the tries against the AB U20's last year.
I would like to see Du Plessis and Jackson as our center pairing.

 No Daniel du Plessis isn't Carel du Plessis son, you're thinking of Jean-Luc du Plessis. Two different players, he wasn't in the team last year. 
I'd like to see Du Plessis and Linde as our center pairing, with Jackson on the bench and getting decent game time, whether that be coming off it or rotations for each match between him and Du Plessis.

 Die onder 20 skrumskakel van SWD behoort in die finale groep te wees. Hy en n paar ander spelers is nie in die oefen groep nie as gevolg van Vodacombeker verpligtinge. Duan is nog een.

You are correct - Daniel du Plessis is Willie du Plessis's son.  I have seen him play for Paul Roos and in the Craven week and was surprised by his ommision from the team last year.  Jean-Luc is the son of Carel du Plessis.

That does not make sense as Gallant, EW Viljoen, Jackson are playing Vodacom Cup and one of the du Preez twins is in the Sharks S15 side

Big names missing are RG Snyman, Thomas du Toit, Jarryd Sage, Duhan v/d Merwe, Rickus Bothma and Hanro Liebenberg.....who should all walk the side.

 

I wonder how young JD Schickerling is doing, the young lock that broke his neck. He was hoping to be playing again within a year.

Let me clear this up for you based on the SARU announcement:-
"Players such as Thomas du Toit, Dan du Preez (both, Sharks), RG Snyman and Warrick Gelant (both, Blue Bulls) who are currently busy with Super Rugby commitments, were excluded from the trials squad. Duhan van der Merwe (Blue Bulls) and Rikus Bothma (Western Province) are currently injured and were not considered."
Handro Liebenberg is on the bench for the Bulls this week and is probably included in the list of p-layers not going for the training camp.  
As to JD Schickerling - there is no news on the internet.  After his operation - as a matter of fact fourteen days after the injury - Schikerling did make a statement in which he said he is able to walk slowly and it is improving every day.   However, there is no further report on his recovery and he will not play any rugby this year at all.  I think we will hear more later this year.   Hope he makes a full recovery and his wish to play rugby in future will be fulfilled.

Yeah I saw that......but what makes no sense is that du Preez and Gelant are on that list despite the article saying they are excluded.

du Toit Roets, the lock from the Lions is a monster at 133kg and 2.04m......he weighed 141kg at one point.

 If you look at the physique and muscle power of the present youngsters - how can anyone still believe that a 105kg lock is not physically-defective and is what we need in the Springbok team?

Jurie Linde the outside centre is meant to be a class act - a try scoring machine by all accounts....would be given his pace and size. Ran the 100m at school in 10.68 sec and at 1.86m and 96kg has good size.

 

The likes of Jackson and du Plessis (Carel's son) are very good centres as well.

 

This years side should be pretty useful and will be along the lines of:

Lekker young talent coming through from all provinces, there's are few familiar names. Jacques Vermeulen is one to watch out for, phenomenal loose forward with a bright future.

 Duhan van der Merwe is definitely heavier than 98kg's, he's reminiscent of Spies on the wing and he's 100% bigger than EW Viljoen.

No doubt many of the stats are out of date. One only begins to realise that when you see what a guy like Marcel Coetzee actually weighs.
He always looked bigger than the 106kg quoted for ages. Now we see he weighs 112kg.
These players today are huge.

 A 60-man South African Under-20 trial squad for the IRB Junior World Championships has been named.

The likes of Daniel du Preez (Sharks) and EW Viljoen (Stormers) have been part of the Super Rugby set-up already in 2015, whilst Warrick Gelant has already made himself a regular in the Blitzbokke team.

The 60-man trial group also includes several youngsters who have impressed in the Varsity Cup tournament. The likes of Conrad van Vuuren, Ox Nche (both Shimlas), CJ Velleman, Tyler Paul (both NMMU), Brandon Thomson, Ernst Stapelberg (both Maties), Dewald Human, JT Jackson (both Tuks) and Khanyo Ngcukana (Ikeys) have all featured regularly in the Varsity Cup.

The final squad that will participate in the Junior World Championships in June will most likely feature just 30 players. South Africa’s first match will be against hosts nation Italy on June 02.

I think that the list of players are basically from the so-called rugby schools who have country-wide agents to identify players they can recruit to join their schools.  There are some nastiness among schools as a result of active recruiting programmes as well.
I know that the Garsfontein agent in the Southern Cape is particularly active and has recruited numerous players from the SWD area to go to Garsfontein, but no schools are innocent in this regard.
When I went to George about 18 months ago I saw the sponsorship board at the Outeniqua High School and virtually all the top local businesses are sponsoring the schools rugby efforts.  They provide funds to cover equipment - school fees - pocket money - clothing and accommodation costs for pupils from areas away from George.
This may be a good thing - but may also have detrimental consequences.   Children from as young as 13 becomes rugby "mercenaries" and th e question is - is that really a good thing.

 The SARU national selectors have named a squad of 37 players for the Junior Springbok training camp in preparation for the 2015 World Rugby Under 20 Championship to be played during June in Italy. The group will assemble in Stellenbosch on Easter Monday.

The revised training squad was confirmed after a 4-day trials camp last week in Stellenbosch.

The group includes several players who are currently busy with Vodacom Super Rugby, Vodacom Cup and Varsity Cup commitments.

These players, such as Thomas du Toit, Dan du Preez (both Cell C Sharks) and Hanro Liebenberg (Vodacom Blue Bulls) will join the training camp at a later stage.

Dawie Theron, the Junior Springbok coach, described last week’s trials camp as a very good exercise.

“We could get a nice close up look at the performances of a large group of promising players and how they responded to the instructions we gave them. The youngsters spent valuable time with the SARU Mobi-Unit and I am sure they now have a good understanding of our playing principles and structures.

“The hard work starts now to prepare them for the very demanding and tough Under 20 Championship,” said Theron.

The training group consists of 20 backs and 17 forwards, with the bulk of the players drawn from the ranks of DHL Western Province (12), Vodacom Blue Bulls (10) and the Cell C Sharks (8).
