Talk about a pathetically conservative coach with no bloody idea whatsoever......what an insulting extended squad this clown has selected.......let me guess, the likes of Heinke v/d Merwe, Schalk Brits and Kirchner get selected because they know the systems in place.......what a bloody laugh.

What the hell are the following doing in the squad:

Alberts, Brits, Kirchner, Louw, Matfield, Mvovo, Pienaar, Morne, Heinke v/d Merwe, Jean, Jannie, Fourie and du Preez.......talk about a bunch of hasbeens or never beens......Heinke v/d Merwe.......what a fucking joke!

Where the hell are Andries Coetzee, Senatla, Sithole, Combrink, Vorster, Odendaal, Frans Venter, Thomas du Toit, Ackers, Willemse, Ruan Botha, Jacques du Plessis, Kriel, Carr, Arno Botha, v/d Walt, Labs, Mtembu

How the fuck can you be stupid enough to leave Jacques du Plessis and Jaco Kriel out of an extended squad......how thick is this plank of a coach.

He is utterly useless

As Mozart said there is a hell of a lot of dead wood in that squad - matter of fact they are bad news.   I would say the dead wood players are -

Alberts, Brits, Kirchner, Matfield, Mvovo, Pienaar, Morne, Heinke v/d Merwe, Jannie, Fourie and du Preez.......talk about a bunch of hasbeens or never beens......Heinke v/d Merwe.......what a fu cking  joke!!!!

I would not say Louw is dead wood - he still remains a top class player and still have doubts about De Villiers.   Jean is a gentleman- he would opt out of selection if he feels that he is not up to standard and will let the team down.   The rest are just not in the same class insofar as character is concerned.

Deadwood or no deadwood, whats the bloody point of picking such a poor squad and leaving out so many good players that are in form.....how ignorant is Meyer.......the guy is pathetically conservative and what pisses me off more than anything is the fact that he is selling Bok rugby so short.......this at a time when we have more talent than ever at our disposal.

How the fuck can you ignore the likes of Senatla, Sithole, Combrink, Vorster, Odendaal, Frans Venter, Ackers, Jacques du Plessis, Jaco Kriel, Carr  and Arno Botha

Of your list I would agree on Arno, but on reputation alone. Senatla? Maybe, maybe not. The rest? Meh.

I tell you why you can ignore them, for the simple reason that not one of those players would make the NZ squad...and certainly none of the backs would make the Aussie squad.

So you want us to blood inferior players to our two biggest rivals, just before the WC....an an effort to play their game.

Can anything be more stupid. Seriously.....there is dumb and then there is Dave Dumb.

 @Saf
Agree for the most part mate.
But Heinke is probably one of the toughest scrummagers I have ever seen.

Give him a fair chance to show his worth. He did not disappoint when he played for the Boks againt (I think it was Ireland).

For the rest, you are spot on. Kirchner??? WTF

I like attacking rugby, but you have got to supply the ammunition. Going into battle with a pop gun is not the answer. You would like a backline of Reinach-Jantjies/Lambie-Damian-Vorster... it would be one of the weakest defensive backlines out there.

Nobody wants that backline you come up with.   However, what is the backline you favour?  Come now we all want to have a good laugh - so give it.

Yes, you both want Jantjies or Lambie at 15. You both want Damian at 12, and you both want Vorster at 13. Reinach was both defended by the two of you on the EOYT, So yes it is a backline you both have been canvasing for some time.

Oh what rubbish Fox ......and no my 10 would be Pollard, with Serfontein at 12, de Allende at 13......your take on de Allende not having upper body strength is the biggest load of shit I have read in ages.

Vorster would be on my bench.

No Chippo, Heinke is an average scrummager and a piss poor selection given all the good props we have on board. I'd much rather see us invest in young Thomas du Toit, Schalk v/d Merwe or Ollie Kebble......if we are going to look beyond the likes of Jannie, Beast, Coenie, Marcel v/d Merwe, Kitshoff, Nyakane, Koch and Malherbe who are rightly included in the squad....although I am not particularly convinced by Jannie these days.

Well, if he gets dumped by a smaller back, and gets run through or run over on defence. That would certainly imply there is a problem.

Oh what utter bullshit, when was he dumped or run over stop making this crap up...de Allende is one of the strongest backs in the game......he beats the number of defenders he does through power you dimwit......he hardly dances past players like a Danie Gerber.......wake the fuck up

Dave you would be totally comfortable with Reinach, Janjies....who you described as the form SA 10, de Allende and Vortster. The fact that you might prefer Pollard and Step doesn't negate the fact you are campaigning for all those players to be in the match 23.
As for you Rokkie....you would be totally happy with Reinach, Lambie, De Allende and Vorater,

Amazing how you chaps slide away from your picks.

You are not truthful in this case.   I posted the following  backline and now you go bananas about something I never wrote:-
My backline was as follows:
15  Willie le Roux14. Senatla13. De Allende/Serfontein12  De Villiers/De Allende11  Habana10  Pollard 9  Reinach
I never shied away from that backline as suggested by you and the desert fool.   I would be perfectly happy with Lambie and Vorster on the bench and even more  happy not to see the robotic non-performers Morne and Francois Steyn as far as possible from the Springbok team.

Well yes Moz, I'd much rather have them in my match 23 than the 23 useless Meyer would select.....which will see the likes of Kirchner, Fourie, Jean, Morne, du Preez and Pienaar in the side.....the kind of side that would tick your box....the same conservative rubbish.

Nope I have not slipped from my choices, you are making it up.......Jantjies is the form 10, but Pollard would be my pick at 10, just like Serf has been my choice at 12 for ages with de Allende at 13.

No slide there.......Reinach would not make my current match 23, but would be my 3rd choice 9.....my starter would be between Hougaard and Faf.

Jantjies would definitely be my bench 10 and Vortser my bench centre......the likes of Kirchner, Fourie, Jean, Morne, Pienaar and du Preez would not feature in my extended squad of 50 potential players.......just like Matfield would not come close to making my extended squad of 100 potential Bok players.

How anyone who knows the game can bring themselves to select the likes of Kirchner, Fourie, Morne, Pienaar, Heinke v/d Merwe and Matfield is beyond comprehension.

They Meyer apologists (I'm one ) can argue all they want, there are a few howling inclusions and omissions. Not even the best spindoctors can polish a turd, but Meyer seems to be trying.

Think for a second. Do you really believe HM didn't know his omission of Kriel, Jacques du Plessis and Vorster was going to draw howls of approbrium. That the inclusion of Frans, Morne, Matfield, Jannie and Alberts was going to be as popular among the neophytes as a skunk at a wedding?

He wasn't surprised by the reaction....he knew it was coming.....but after a year of catering to the fools he finally stood up and made some solid decisions.

Thank heavens for the YE tour....we are finally on the path back.

Dave, who would you select? Kirchner or Oupa Mahoje?

I guess that is part of Meyer's problem. He MUST comply with the quota demands and he can not do it without selecting one of those players.

Meyer can still select Willie at 14 with the instruction to help out during a match at the back. This might be another pointer why Hougaard is not in the group.

So, if he selects Kirchner, he can afford to discard Mahoje and select a fully competitive pack of forwards.

Blikkies, we all know that is the case, but  De Jongh is not even in the lar ger group, so transformation isn't the only factor here.

The path back to what?  Going backwards to non-performers is the path back to further defeats.   The under-performers in order of under-performers are -
1  Francois Steyn2  Morne Steyn3  Willem Alberts4  Jannie du Plessis5  Victor Matfield
Francois Steyn
Steyn was by some distance the worst center in Super 15 - his stats was a real nightmare of uselessness.   Made 1 line break beating 9 defenders in 9 matches.   Picked up a yellow card and afterwards a red card - with a five week ban thrown in.  Had the highest missed tackle ratio of any 12 in the competition.  Slow and utterly useless in any format on the game - Steyn's performance raises the question what the hell is he doing in the squad?
Morne Steyn
After a nightmare year in 2014 tests Morne made a complete hash in the Perth test where he was the main reason for the loss of the test.  After he missed 55% of attempted tackles in that match - he lost the test all on his own by his inability to find touch with a penalty kick.   That was followed up with a season where he could only make the starting line-up of his Club when the Vlub's starting line-up was playing test rugby or injured.    In his last two matches of his club his goal kicking was up to standard - the rest of his game as poor as he was in Perth.  His defense was a farce sd id normal with him.
Willem Alberts
Wad injured in June 2014 in a test where his performance was atrocious.   Gad two comeback games in Super 15 and was sh!t-poor.
Reds
Alberts0/000/0/33000010/31/010/0
Stormers

Alberts0/001/1/5400003/01/010/0

Meyer must be nuts to select this low work rate fat, slow and unfit loafer in his Springbok squad.   His stats is nearly as bad as those of Fransie.   He carried the ball 8 times for a 7 meter territory gain (that is normal with him) made 13 tackles missing 3 (and that as a loosie).      Jannie du Plessis
Jannie has gone backwards in performances over the past year.  His nightmare performance against the Argentinians was a unique scrumming low  (probably the worst scrumming performance by a Springbok prop ever in tests).  That was followed up by nondescript performances in all other tests in 2014.   In Super 125 his scrumming was poor giving away penalties like it was unbelievable in scrumming..  Outside of scrumming his performance was sh!t poor - his defense bordering on the non-existent and his ball play the poorest imaginable.   He holds a unique record - in 147 Super Rugby matches he never scored a try.   At nearly 33 years of age this is a player way past his sell-by date.  Another scrumming nightmare is on the cards in this case.
Victor Matfield
This is a physically-deficient player whose contribution to Tight 5 play is a joke in bad taste - the Springbok Tight 5 has deteriorated badly after his return to test rugby.   He has the reputation that he calls line-outs - but it has become his habit to call line-outs to all other potential players - but himself.  His line-out play has deteriorated to as very few line-out takes per match - but his major flops in two line-outs late in the games against the AB's last year were notorious.   Matfield in Bakkies Botha's own words does not always moonlights in the backline - where he makes as a rule weak tackles - which has become his only claim to fame.   Since his return to test rugby in 9 tests against major ranked rugby teams the Springboks lost 4 because of in the main malfunctioning of the their Tight 5.  His performance in Super 15 can best be described as totally inadequate and the Bulls Tight 5 performance this year can also be described as horrible and Matfield's absence added to that situation.   His last Super 15 performance was a joke and the tired 38 year-old has skipped half of the matches of the Bulls towards the end of Super 15.   This guy is a liability for any tram he represents - but he is one of Meyer's blue-eyed favourites.  He has become a disgrace in a Springbok jersey.
These are the five players Mozart calls  "some solid decisions".  Putting it mildly - if that is solid rugby decisions - the crazy has taken over.

Good one Moz so the EOYT tour never included the likes of useless Matfield and co then.......bwhaaahaaaaa, keep trying.

Blikkies.....the issue of the quota is easy to overcome......you don't need to go anywhere near the likes of washed up Kirchner when you have the following to choose from:

Habana, JP, Senatla, Sithole, Kolbe, Rhule, Skosan, Mapoe, Mnisi, Jantjies, Paige, Beast, Nyakane, Scara, Mntombeni, Kolisi, Carr, Oupa and Mtembu to choose from.
