Port Elizabeth - The Eastern Province Kings and prop Maks van Dyke have mutually agreed to part ways after the front-ranker expressed a desire to return to the Free State.

"Maks has indicated that he would like to return to the Free State where he has been offered a position with the Cheetahs and we have agreed to release him from his contract in order for him to do so," said EP Rugby president, Cheeky Watson.

Van Dyk signed with Griquas in 2014 and played for the Cheetahs during Super Rugby last year.

Watson said although Van Dyk had only been with the union for a short period of time they wished him all the best with his career going forward.

The Kings start their Currie Cup campaign with a home game against the Golden Lions this Saturday (14:15 kick-off).

I thought the Queens had dropped Luke Watson for a moment. 
Although surely Puke will be playing until he is about 40 for the Kings- meanwhile with Cheeky robbing what is left  of the ANC budget for the Queens

Good move by Maks ......he is a useful prop wasted at the Kings
