I just watched the Athletics and I was curious to see how van Niekerk would perform after his excellent heat yesterday. He was brilliant, outsprinting Merritt and James the two superstars of the 400metres down the straight. It's hard to defend a lead in this exhausting race, but he did with perfect form.

He is a classical 400 metres runner, lithe not muscle bound,   with a superb gliding style.

And what a composed young man, his demeanour  was that of any nice young fellow you would see walking down Adderley Street. Although the race took it out of him and he was taken for observation.

Here's what his rivals said about this stupendous race:

“It was a special occasion,” James told the BBC after the race. “A once-in-a-lifetime race and I am glad to be part of a special group of 400m runners in this era.”

Well done indeed.

The following from News24:- posted at 16:12
"South African sprinting sensation Wayde van Niekerk has claimed the gold medal at the IAAF World Championships in Beijing on Wednesday to become the first African 400m runner in almost a century to win a major global title.  Van Niekerk posted the sixth fastest time in history clocking 43.48 to claim the title."

I am sure this good news was ignored by the age-demons on the site because Van Niekerk is only 23 years of age - too young to be of any good.

So now suddenly this posting - how embarrassing!!!!!!!!!!!

It is hard to imagine that there are people as dumb as you are.  I posted the result at 16:12 with the above comment as quoted.  The Liar claimed "I just watched the Athletics and I was curious to see how van Niekerk would perform after his excellent heat yesterday."  That was posted at 18:41 - the race was run at 15:30.   It could have been  re-broadcasted - but what  is reasonable to accept is that the Liar saw my posting of 16:12 and found himself in an embarrassing situation because he normally only made postings about more elderly sportsmen.     As a result he posted the above - found out again as a Liar.
That was indeed an embarrassment for the Liar from the USA.

Please note CAG was used iro the above time indications.

It's pretty obvious Perv never appreciated the accomplishment, it was just an opportunity to attack those who disagree with him.

@Ou Tokkie. The difference is this. Your thread was a fishing expedition aimed at Moz. His thread was tohonour the achievement of Van Niekerk. I unfortunately missed the race, but I have seen Van Niekerk's heat and was very impressed with the way he ran it.

Ah well here we have another piece of great sleuthing by the Perv. I saw his piece and posted the above. His evidence is his time stamps. But here's the thing....I watched it on record.
Why would I do that. Possibly because I was otherwise  engaged, but that was not the reason. I get my TV service through Comcast Cable, the athletics is on a channel called Universal Sports. Comcastis in dispute with Universal and doesn't carry that channel.
So my daughter who lives close by and gets her TV via Direct TV which carries Universal has recorded the whole week of athletics for me. I wandered over to her house mid morning and watched the events which included the 200 heats, the woman's steeple chase, the woman's pole vault, and the main event, the 400 metres final.
Anybody could look this up you say....sure, but watch the South African kid running next to Bolt in the 200 metres and check if he doesn't give him a glance about 5 metres from the end.
Game, set and match.

Agreed Deddy,  but the sillyness is not all Mike's  doing. It is totally devoid of reason at this stage ond all parties at both ends of the running fued jump on any imagined misstep to try and score some imagined points. A total ceasefire will be boring,  but the alternative is also getting a bit stale... but not too stale to stomach just yet.

 Ceradunce
"I am sure this good news"  means nothing when I wrote my comments.   However, this must be the first time that Mozart ever wrote something favourable about an SA Sportsman achieving anything of substance - especially one under the age of 30 years of age.
Lets look at the following extract as an example:-
100 m butterfly48.44Doha4 December 2014WR200 m butterfly1:48.56Singapore5 November 2013WR WR means the best times set by anybody in the World ever.  Both short course records was previously held by Phelps and both were broken by Le Clos.  All recognition Le Clos ever got from Mozart was a vicious attack on him based on US sports propaganda - an example of the sick mind of that poster.
Incidentally I had Le Clos at one stage as my Avatar - so I suppose the attack was based on him being another "pretty boy" at the age of 23.    I did make a posting on this site on both occasions when the WR's were broken - but Mozart ignored that achievement both times.   I found a pic of Van Niekerk and put in him as my avatar - which would give Mozart a reason to turn against him as well.
The sick mind of some posters (especially Mozart and his piss-poor side-kick Ceradunce) at work again.

Like I always pull yours stupedo?
So lets see what my string of "pretty boys" consist of now:-
Rugby - Pieter-Steph du Toit            Harold VorsterSwimming - Chad le ClosAthletics  -  Wade van NiekerkCricket    -  Quinton de Kock
No lets look at when they were posted:-
*   Pieter-Steph du Toit when he was touted as the best player as a lock by everybody in the rugby world*   Chad le Clos - when he broke two WR in short course swimming*   Wade van Niekerk - after his amazing 400 meter race yesterday in the AWC*   De Kock after he joined a unique number of players (there were only three players ever to hit centuries in a three ODI series)
Now is it not surprising that Mozart hates two of the mentioned players with a vengeance because they either became a selection threat to his favourite Matfield (Du Toit) or when De Kock actually replaced Smith in the Proteas ODI squad.   Harold Vorster made the grade when he played the fool with De Jongh in recent matches.   I cannot account for his hatred of Le Clos - but can only assume it stems from the fact that Le Clos poses a threat to Phelps on age grounds.
Just by using them as my avatars is enough to make Mozart jumps around on the strings I pulled.   What fun to see how he goes from jumping to grovelling when I do pull the strings.

 Ou Tokkie and his assumptions.......
Maybe you should wake up and smell the roses, mate. Pieter-Steph du Toit was never a threat to Matfield. I cannot speak for  Moz, but that is definitely the case as far as I am concerned. I can quote you many posts where I have punted PSDT and Eben Etzebeth as our future Bok second rowers, and I am  not saying that to beat my own chest. It is just to indicate that I do rate PSDT. My only issue with him is that he, like so many other youngsters, was pushed onto the big stage too soon. Both Moz and myself, had our doubts about PSDT's durability right from the start. Nothing has happened, as yet, to prove us wrong. Victor Matfield was brought back exactly because of that issue.
HM made no secret of how highly he rated PSDT and he said right from the start that he rates him for the future. Let me say, for the umpteenth time, HM's idea of our lock pairing right from the start in 2012, was that it was going to be Bekker taking over from Matfield and Etzebeth taking over from Bakkies. Unfortunately Bekker, who was also injured more often than not, decided that pack his bags which brought PSDT into the fold prematurely. He was also pushed into Super Rugby prematurely. The end result was that he also saw himself constantly recovering from injuries. HM was left with Flip and Juandre Kruger in the first year and he was slated for that because they were Bulls players. Nobody seemed to care that Kruger was actually doing quite a good job under the circumstances.
To get back to PSDT. As I said, he was never a threat for Matfield and had PSDT been able to perform and stay fit, I am sure Matfield would not even have been back playing again. Fact is that none of the "crop of youngsters" have been a threat for Matfield, simply because they were constantly on the mend. It is only now, at 38, that Matfield is starting to pick up niggles. He never had those issues when he was a youngster. Yes, I know that you and Beeno have your own ridiculous little theory about that, but I am sure that none of PSDT or Loodvoet de Jager will ever achieve what Matfield has done. FFS, both PSDT and Loodvoet cannot even stay fit to start challenging Matfield's achievements.

I read as far as Pieter-Steph du Toit never being a threat to Matfield and then lost interest - somebody should not start a statement on site which is not true.  If anybody bar Meyer was the coach - useless Matfield would not be anywhere near the Springbok squad if he was not pally-pally with Meyer.   He used to be a good enough lock - since his return to rugby in 2014 - he was not even close to Springbok material.
Witless - Matfield was never involved in the Tight 5 grunt - even when he was top of the log as a lock.   Players not involving themselves in the tighter phase of the game are not subject to injury - to note Matfield and Morne Steyn.  Put it plainly to get it through your thick skull - Matfield's contribution to Tight 5 play was near to zero - his attributes were in line-outs and moonlighting in the backline - where injuries of forwards are rare.  Morne Steyn never attacked the gain line and ran into traffic - so no injury problem.
Matfield was a good lock - not as good as you and Mozart make him out to be because of lack of grunt.  Previous locks do not rate him as a great lock and that was clearly stated by a number of ex-locks - reason he was no good in the Tight 5 and lacked grunt.  So this story about Matfield's achievements being challenged is baloney.  Matfield became a Springbok lock at the age of 24 - both De Jager and Du Toit were much younger.  Both are hard workers in every facet of the game and consequently more exposed to injuries. Comprehende.

 Well Pakie
For every one who wants Matfield in the squad there are three people opposed to him. I am definitely not interested in Matfield being in the squad - what I do know is that since his return to international rugby our Tight 5 has deteriorated hand in hand with our losses in tests.

Stephanie has played exactly one compelling match.....the CC final. There is no evidence, even at S15 level that he is a world class lock. Perhaps he is but he has never been healthy enough, long enough ...to make that case.

"For every one who wants Matfield in the squad there are three people opposed to him."

Netwerk24 asked their readers to put together their preferred squad of 31. Matfield made the final squad - the only way that could have happened is if he received a majority vote across all reader selected teams.

Pop goes another unfounded theory.

I've been going back and forth with the Matfield selection but after the Rugby Championship, you can see that Matfield is a mental presence in that side. Whilst I'm still not in favour of him starting, I think that him coming on for the last 30 minutes or so in a game, either to close it out or to give us some extra emphasis then Matfield is a perfect player due to experience.

How many people took part?   I think that most people have accepted that Matfield will be in the squad - but that does not mean he is there on merit.  I have certainly accepted that Meyer would select him and that he will soon found out where he has lost the quarterfinal in the tournament with all the under-performing passengers he is carting along.
We will find out the joke tomorrow afternoon at this time and I for one am not optimistic that there are not going to be a load of under-performing and useless players in that squad.  I have never seen a show like we have been going through with a squad selection.  Some players have not played a reasonable match for more than a year - but they are certainties.  The question is who will be discharged from the hospital ward soon enough to make the attendance of the squad announcement in time.
All this because proper squad planning was a farce and nothing constructive was done in that regard during Meyer's tenure as coach.   He now is totally dependent on players whose last good match was three or four years ago and has been running back to retired players to get them to come back and under-perform. like near to all have in fact done.
That chaotic situation is why we are going to bow out of contention early during the tournament.

Hope he can build on this... no reason that he can't.  Go Wade!

How dumb do you get. Matfield did zip for the bulle and zip for the Boks. He shuns the.physical stuff so doesnt get injured. He is the least physical twit ever to play test rugby including scrumhalves!!!!!! Hahahahaha

Lomp and Allende lost the Aussie test.....then in the Bargie home test he called himself 16 times to two times for Etzebeth. Thus he appeared to be doing a lot....accomplishing is another story. He's certainly a better bet than Stephanie, but nothing special. And if Matfield is a rugby PhD, Lomp isn't even in university yet.

Mozart is talking his standard rubbish again.  That is evident from his comments as to the loss of the Aussie test.  The question he has to ask himself is over the last year how many tests did the Springboks lose because of players like Matfield and Morne Steyn?  Last time I counted half of the tests Matfield played in we lost and he blames other players for losing tests.
Matfield is a rugby PhD is seriously questionable - if he is than what is the explanation for the downward slide of the Bulls ever since he became attack coach of that team?   There sudden improvement with Matfield absent from the squad indicates the complete opposite - namely he is a fossil stuck in the past.
What a joke!!!!!!!!!!!
