He is not even on the bench. Meyer has accused the players of not following his game plan. 
FDP was good vs the All Blacks in the first half but fell apart in the second half. He has been on the best scrum halves at the world cup. 
I am starting to think that Pienaar understand Meyers game plan better FDP.One thing that Pienaar must be given credit is that he is the best aimless kicker at the tournament.

 Yes, he was injured, he had a brui se near his eye/check bone the size of a baseball.

 With Greybeard as captain I was amazed that Meyer never selected Burger as the #10.
Burger has had enough time and exposure to lock up that slot.
Pity.

I thought du Preez was pretty average this WC....so much is made of his rugby genius, I don't buy into that.


He was poor against NZ, ok against Wales, average against the Scots  and had one good outing as a sub.


I expect more from a test 9 than a good service and boot....I expect my 9 to ask questions of the defence.


I would have much preferred to see Hougaard/Faf/Reinach on board

Wer have a case here who Meyer praised to high heaven.  Du Preez's last international games before the WC was in June 2014 at the age of 32 years of age.  He was at best ordinary in the Wales Tests before he was injured.  Obviously our local village idiots thouht he was sublime - but in reality he was just bog ordinary.
After the constant poor service provided by Pienaar culminated in the Japan disaster - Meyer was forced to pick Du Preez.   He was an improvement on Pienaar - but the second team scrummie of Witgatwortelfontein would have been - the bar set for improvement was very, very low.
After a good performance against Samoa, the bottom fell out and he rapidly regressed in performance ending up with a below par performance against the AB's.  I always says that Japanese club players cannot play in successive weeks and that became very obvious as the WC went on.
He ended up like all Meyer's geriatrics with  score of between 3 and 4 out of ten.

 Yeah, you prefer your 9 to kick straight into the air or out of range for contesting. To have their kicks charged down 1 out of three times. To be caught in possession behind the ruck/maul, because they have to take a few steps before they can wind up and pass. Who are allowed three passes that bounce before the receiver in every match and two behind the receiver. On so on and so forth...

Yeah, yeah... we got it!!! You've got the hots for Hougaardt!

Pienaar is the best of a bad bunch, when Du Preez and Hougaard are taken out of the equation (though Paige did look good when I did see him, but is completely unproven against quality opposition and under real pressure). For the first time his service was good in the RC, but his kicking has always been poor. It is supposed to be his great weapon, but it has never shown itself. He is slow, passive and cracks under pressure - be that real of perceived. Quite frankly Hougaard showed far more acumen for the position than any other 9 tried under Meyer, even when Peter's tenure is taken into consideration. But Du Preez still reigns supreme. The best and most complete 9 of all time. His closest rivals are the new gen of wings who can kick okay. Actually, I'm wrong Mike Phillips is immense when fit. More like the hardy Joost-type.

Having watched Hougaard all CC, I am yet to see any of the above, much like I never saw it when he played for the Boks......last time we saw something of note from a Bok 9 was when Hougaard had his last outings against NZ and Oz.


There is nothing wrong with Hougaard's service, his kicking is as solid as the majority of the 9's out there, but clearly not a strength. Who wants your 9 kicking every second ball anyway.


You cant beat Hougaard with ball in hand or defensively......given how bog ordinary du Preez has been and how pathetically passive Pienaar was before him, I'd happily have Hougaard on board. Have said so from day 1, same can be said of the very impressive Faf de Klerk


du Preez and Pienaar have been flops

 We have enough scrummies better than Du Preez and Pienaar at this stage of their careers.   Both are way over the hill and the nonsense they dish out at tests this year makes me delighted to say -
Thank Goodness it is has been Du Preez's last test last week against the AB's and tomorrow will be the last test of Pienaar.   May you enjoy playing for yuor clubs in future and all the best for you in future.   When you were at your prime you did well for the Springboks - recently you did not shape up well enough.

du Preez was great in his day but like Vic, Jean and co that day was some time ago.


Pienaar is a softie, has no hard edge.....far too passive.


Our scrumhalves were poorly picked for this WC.


I could live with taking the experienced du Preez (not a selection I would have made) but taking Pienaar and Paige was madness......Paige was a political selection, but that never needed to be as a player like Scara or Mbonambi could have made the trip ahead of Brits.


Hougaard and Faf should have been included along with du Preez if we are making Meyer calls
