What good Is the video ref system....

...if so many mistakes are made. Here's today's example. Look at the try Foley scored against the Poms, where the ref referred the try to the video ref to check the pass. We rewound and slow motioned the pass. It was a good step forward on a short pass....no doubt. Yet the video ref said it wasn't a problem. Probably didn't change the match, but it could have.

 I was thinking the same thing Mozart - also the 2 yellow cards that should have been dished out to both Burgess and Farrell and the tackle without the ball on Folley where a clear intercept  was on. That should also have been a yellow card.

 The TV Monitor in the case of the Springbok game was a bloke by the name of Ayoub - the same guy from Australia who earlier this year was banned for a couple of months for sheer incompetence during Super 15 matches - one of which was the Durricans-Stormers match.  Wonder why that incompetent is in the WC tournament?    

And he was agitating for JP to be carded...credit to Nigel Owens for not following that advice. 

I do not understand why the ref's ask the TMO's if they agree that an incident should be a penalty kick or a card.
Surely that is the role of the ref to make without the TMO's support or opinion.
The TMO's are there to review the play and relay the play to the ref after viewing it from all angles.
Simple or what.  

 The TMO has a much better monitor and can see the replays more clearly than the ref, this is why the ref often asks the opinion of the TMO. Fact is though that the TMO nearly always bows down to the refs opinion even though it is clear from his initial comments that he disagrees with the ref.
IMO the TMO system is improving.
