Yes, that is the new rule and, from what I heard, it is in effect as of this season.
Look it up on the World Rugby site.

It's regulation 8 and it states that if you play for the senior side or next senior side or 7's side you can't play for another country.
Next senior side being either the A side or U20 side if your country does not play A fixtures, which is the case for SA.
The rule must have come into effect before this season as Swiel made the call last season.
08 Feb 2015, 19:05#4
No, they fast tracked the rules in September last year, to stop so many players changing countries once they have represented their own.
Now, once you have represented one, under those guidelines you have stipulated, you cannot play for another.
And thank god for that !!!

That is a pity then as Willemse and du Plessis played for the U20 s in 2012 and 2013.

It's about time something like this was put into place.
It is the reason Steffon Armitage wasn't selected for the French Squad in the Autumn.

Did he play for Saxons last year?
08 Feb 2015, 21:29#8
No.We don't need him.....we never did. Had his chance, didn't do anything, so that is that.
We have other options, thanks ! And we need team players, not mercenaries !!

Bullshit as everyone is correctly saying he is by far your best 7, Robshaw is not a 7's backside and that clueless Lancaster is going to have to make an exception to the rule in order to include him in your WC squad.
Without him you can forget about challenging for the WC. He is the only player you have that can effect turnovers as evidenced when he came on against the Sharks. He was awesome.

Has he played for England before?
08 Feb 2015, 22:26#11
Yes he has played for us and he was very ordinary if not poor so he was not selected again. And then he chose money over challenging for a place in the Squad.
No, we do not want him and we will stay as we are. We have other options and that is that.
Concentrate on your team and I'll do likewise

Funny that everyone wants him except yourself. Do you actually know what an openside is meant to do and if so then what exactly does Robshaw do in that role?
08 Feb 2015, 22:59#13
Yes, I do know, so don't patronise me. Just because I happen to disagree with you doesn't mean you have to belittle me and infer I am some sort of imbecile.
I happen to think that someone who has no English blood in them, who is born in the West Indies and winds up in my country via France simply because his mother marries a man she met when he holidayed in her country and who then has his opportunity to represent us, but who failed to impress, has had enough of a chance. You do realise he would be playing for France if he was allowed in their Squad and only decided to say he would like to be playing for us yet again when that opportunity was taken away with the rule change last September ? It was then offered to the Clubs to pay for him to come over here but he wanted so much money that no-one was willing to pay his excessive wage packet. He is a mercenary, pure and simple and that is something that does not sit well with some of us, I am one of those people. I am glad Stuart Lancaster is one of those people too, importantly, he is one of the people who doesn't want him....I'm not alone, so it seems !

Funny that Lancaster is on record saying he might have to include Europe's player of the year to be included in his May WC squad under the exceptional circumstances clause....I wonder why that is.
So what does Robshaw do as your openside then....just out of interest?
08 Feb 2015, 23:50#15
He is on record as saying that there is an exceptional circumstances clause that is the only way he would include him in the wider Squad. And that was in response to the constant banging on about him by boring individuals who get bees in their bonnets about certain players and they suddenly become the be all and end all of life. And, furthermore, if he is to be charged with a criminal act in a few days time, which French sources seem to believe he will be, akin to grievous bodily harm or wounding with intent over here, he would play no part in our team whatsoever anyway. That would be a fact !!!
Oh, Robshaw does nothing. I mean, he has never, ever won one turnover in his life. Not one. And really, he does nothing else whilst he's out there either. Might as well put me out there. So yeah, you're right. Best sack the man now.

I wonder why all these people are making those calls. Barnes and co could not stop on the topic of his inclusion after the Toulon game.
Name a single turnover useless Robshaw effected on Friday night. What about defender beaten or metres gained.
All he can do is tackle big deal. He is not a 7's backside. Potentially the worst international 7 out there simply because he is not a 7. It's not his fault he gets played out of position.
09 Feb 2015, 00:20#17
I really couldn't care less what they say. If they were praising Robshaw to the sky, you would not be having this conversation with me, or you would be telling me they talk rubbish !
How about telling me he's the worst international ever ? How's that ? Oh no, you already told me Carling was an appalling Centre and Jason Leonard was a useless Prop...maybe they were candidates for the worst International of all time ?!

Robshaw is an average flank who is too big and cumbersome for 7. He should be playing 6 for you if at all. I would not select him.
Leonard and Carling were as average as they come. Much like Johnson was.
But Corb, Cole, Brookes, Lawes, Wood, Croft, Billy, Care, Youngs,Tuilagi, Yarde, Watson, Brown and Forden are good.....so what's your point?
09 Feb 2015, 00:38#19
My point is, you think that a number of players regarded in the list of all time greats were useless !
Robshaw is a decent player and I'm afraid he's staying put.....by the way, he got his first turnover in the 20th minute
And he's also in the Top 100 best players of the moment.....

Wrong he never made a single turnover.
100 best my arse. There are 50 better players in SA alone.
As for those average players being the best of all time......I can only laugh at that shit.
09 Feb 2015, 00:55#21
Oh really ? Well the stats men got it wrong yet again....my gosh, you should go and work for them, shouldn't you ? And then you could work your Propoganda, anti Robshaw Magic big time !
Yes, SA has the worlds greatest everything, men, women, sportsmen etc etc. You name it, you're all fab. I really don't know how you're not ruling the world by now. Put the rest of us to shame, you truly do.
And yeah, best phone the Hall of Fame and tell them you want those players removed....and let the RFU know Jason Leonard should not be given that new job of his they have lined up for him, because he's so well respected in the Rugby world !!
09 Feb 2015, 12:28#22
Latest stats on Robshaw I can find have 26 tackles, missed none and TWO turnovers......
09 Feb 2015, 13:05#25
Look, that is not what I am saying that is what the independant stats are saying, so shut up ! The first one was on 20 mins and was on Biggar....there you go, there's a ref point for you to trawl back and check, if you must, so you can trash him a bit more if you want to.
In an international, 26 tackles, none missed is quite a stat. If it was one of your mighty, super fantastic Springboks, I'm sure you'd all be shouting from the rooftops about the supreme fitness and how great they were.
He is there to do his job. The team knows their roles, they do what they do and do it efficiently. He won't be dropped. He's staying put and it doesn't matter how many times you tell me he's useless blah blah blah, that won't change.Get used to it.

A fetcher ! You see, we actually don't go around giving our players silly names akin to that of a dog. It's an Open Side Flanker. We invented the game and the names that go with it, so that's that.A Fetcher ! Sounds more like something you get in a silly American sport....and I know how much you love them
