When you get pissed off with the way we live

I'm sure most of us feel this way...I'm stressed. Cannot live normally anymore....bloody thugs and crook s and thieves that should go to prison but simply execute is the way Africa can survive...Amen.

time to move to australia seb, lots of work for skilled and unskilled alike, and all pay very good money.

NZ will always be home, but lifestyle in OZ agrees with me, i recommend it to all,

 Seb Australia or NZ is the go mate ,bugger all crime to speak of decent economies plenty of sport like cricket and rugby obviously even netball for the ladies .Easy going peeps too.

 Seb: we can find our niche anywhere we live. Good friends & a good wife  make all the difference. I would stop watching the news also as it usually is full of hyped sensationalism & fully negative.

Great advice JW. It's poison to the spirit. Stay aware of alerts and danger areas (you have to in this country unfortunately, like a stretch of the N2 where thugs are laying bricks in the road to stop and then attack motorists), but don't make a diet out of bad news.

I posted this elsewhere - but will repeat it here:-
What people do not realize is that only the brave manage to survive in Africa.  The daily challenges here are  beyond what others experience in countries with a sound social and political environment.  Under such cir[removed]stances in those countries the Government protects all people - the protection situation in most countries in Africa - inclusive of South Africa - is just not present.
Many people would say that the present Government protects the Blacks - but in survey after survey the older Blacks said they were oppressed by the previous Government - but they were socially and in their work situation must better off than they are at present.  They say the same of the education system, which factually is worthless unless you go to the reputation private or Government schools, as well as the Government hospitals where the situation is desperately poor as well and people die virtually daily in hospitals as a result.
So it is a case of survival by the strongest and people capable of leaving the country is indeed lucky.  For us who have no option but to stay, the only real relief  is to see whether our sports teams and personalities could make us proud - other than the beauty of the natural environment there is nothing else that could help us in our daily struggles to maintain a decent life.  
I was happy that the previous racist Government fell and was hopeful that it would erase the racist issue - but never bargained on what happened after the departure of Mandela and Mbeki.  Under Zuma the situation deteriorated into chaos and an ever-increasing mountain of corruption and crime - with governance on all levels collapsing. Every day new evidence emerged of massive corruption and fraud in Government and it is crazy to see what comes out virtually on a daily basis in the media  insofar as fraud, corruption and collapse of Government services are  concerned.   The only province where there is still some normality is in the Western Cape - hence my escape from KwaZulu-Natal to the said province.
Our money is worthless and I really do not blame young sportsmen leaving the country - they have to do so in order to get financial security.  
So lets get back to the WC - I can only hope and pray South Africa does well - at least that in the absence of everything else, would give us some reason to be proud South Africans - proud of our beloved country.   That can only happen if the best players are selected,  but Government interference - like happened in the Cricket World Cup final stages - would put pay to that one.  Then we have another handicap in our rugby set-up - a coach who has constantly backed old friends insofar as selection is concerned and do not regard performance by them as a requirement for selection.  So I am afraid it is unlikely that our prayers will be answered. 
However, that would not destroy our hopes altogether - and one can only continue to dream about it.  In the shorter term lets hope our swimmers do well in the swimming world championship in Kazan  this coming week.

No tests this weekend, clearly early stages of rugby withdrawal are manifesting themselves. 
I will check out what NH games are on & suggest you all do the same. Alternatives are watching prior games & reliving the memory.
