The WC is all but done, we were pretty average and the loss to Japan was an insult. Meyer has been poor all year and the WC confirmed he is out of his depth at test level. He has to go, no questions asked.....he is poor and has sold us short for some time.
With the end of the WC, we should hopefully no longer see any further involvement from the likes of Kirchner, Mvovo, Jean, Morne, du Preez, Pienaar, Jannie, Brits, Matfield, Louw and Alberts for the Boks.......some will retire, the rest are just not worth it.
Of those left, Willie given his high standards, was disappointing, but I suspect this had much to do with the instruction from the coach to play a kicking game from the back as we were in the NH. In effect nullifying our most dangerous attacking threat. Willie was clearly not playing his natural game.
JP has a few years in him yet, I suspect Habana has not but both had solid enough WC's.
Our centre pair are the next big thing.......de Allende beat more defenders than any other centre in the WC and always looked a handful with ball in hand. The lad is freakishly strong. Kriel had very little action out wide much like Conrad Smith of the AB's. Kriel is pure class and is going to be a Bok great. Serfontein is up there with these two but had very little involvement. Lets hope 2016 remains injury free for him and his partnership with Kriel in the S15 is a mouth watering prospect.
Pollard had a good WC, is a real handful taking it flat.....is going to be another great Bok. Lambie had little game time but is a quality player, will however always live in the shadows of Pollard. Very handy back-up to have.
Paige had no game time, poor lad. Not a bad player though, but many back home are better.
Beast had a solid WC, no longer makes the impact he used to with ball in hand. Its time to move on......Kitshoff being the obvious choice. Nyakane is a damn fine player who has found his feet at the highest level. Malherbe soon showed he is a better option than Jannie, was as strong as an ox in the scrums and could be relied on to make his tackles unlike Jannie. Coenie had little game time, was rushed back into the squad. I am a big fan of Coenie, playing for the Sharks in 2016 will be interesting. His partnership with young Thomas du Toit will be good.
Bismark and Strauss were solid enough, nothing spectacular. I expected more from Bismark, maybe he too is coming to the end?
Etzebeth was huge, by the time he had completed that game against the Kiwi's he was dead on his feet. Great physical athlete.....a Bok great already.
Lood was the find of the WC, as good as Etzebeth which says it all. Baby face has some real clout about him. PSDT had little game time but was good when he was playing. Another real class act, who's s15 partnership with Etzebeth is going to be awesome.
Vermeulen got better as the WC progressed, but he to was a bit like Bismark and never really raised the roof. He had been out for some time. Poor Kolisi got no game time, I have so much time for this guy.
