Paris - After their shock loss to Argentina, the Springboks are set to drop to No 5 on World Rugby's official rankings.

Ireland will move up to their highest ever spot on the world rankings due to be published by World Rugby on Monday.

They will move past the Springboks into the No 2 spot following a comfortable 35-21 win over Wales in a World Cup warm-up match in Cardiff on Saturday.

South Africa's shock 37-25 Rugby Championship defeat at home to Argentina - the Pumas' first ever success against the Springboks - was enough to see the Irish move up one place behind world champions New Zealand.

Australia will also climb two places to third after their victory in the Rugby Championship, secured with Saturday's 27-19 win over the All Blacks, giving them three victories from three.

The Springboks will drop three places to fifth - with England in fourth - having lost all three of their Rugby Championship matches.

Argentina's win will move them above France into seventh, while Wales will hold onto sixth despite their defeat.

World Rugby's rankings officially change on Monday's following weekend Test matches.

Meyer has been at number 2 in the world for most of his tenure as Springbok coach. Now he heads into the World Cup ranked lower than any Bok team ever.Have the Boks peaked before the world cup and Did Meyer have a World Cup plan? 
1He did say that he wanted to win all games- and not just the World Cup. Now it may be neither.
He did not have a 4 year plan- rather it was to win as many games as possible. 

The Boks have lost the last 4 tests to different countries- the first time since 1965.

The Springboks are a team that can turn things around, but maybe not.... 
We do seem to have substantial injuries and players just getting back from injury- our only salvation.
The Boks could still win the World Cup- but they need to play at least 30% better than against NZ and Aus

You mean the Proteas Rugby Team ... don't you?

If there were rankings for coaches I seriously doubt Meyer would find himself within the top 10.

He should think of a possible career change.

Rugby's not his game.

You must see how desperately Mozart and DF defend their hero and how they think that Flippie, Fat Willem and Matfield will save the Springbok forwards.  
It is exactly what Meyer is likely to do and since they cannot see what is wrong with those three players the team will go further down than it already is.  
Meyer flopped badly since he got stuck on non-performing reputation players.  Mozart and DF invent all kinds of supposed performances - they in fact admire non-performing reputation players.

Meyer is a disgrace and to think he is not man enough to resign......given the SA rugby board are too stupid to not sack him

The Boks make great underdogs, never been very good at front running. Setting up well for the World Cup although if the injuries keep up that will surely hurt our chances
