Well, hopefully, this is the last significant wave of Covid.

If new strains continue to get weaker, most people will have been infected from Omicron, as well as vaccinated which may hopefully make Covid more like a cold. 

I actually know someone who still has long Covid, from before vaccines were available. 
Deaths are not the only consequence of Covid. 

There are much worse things than covid...it's being hyped out of proportion...almost as if the counter meusures are doing more damage than the actual disease...there's no ballance.

The other norm is that there has been $100 billion fleeced from Government grants by politicos both on State and local level.   That involved 900 investigations being undertaken at this stage.

If South Africa never created these variants, it is like saying that Covid never originated in China. 
It is obvious where a virus originated because those are the first people to get sick and have a new wave. 

The only way Africa will get a large portion of their population vaccinated is if:
1. The West pays for the vaccine.
2. The West does the vaccine roll out in Africa.

The whole story is a sham.   Vaccination does NOT prevent people from getting infected by the virus and does NOT prevent them spreading the virus.

Scientific evaluation blame vaccines for the evolvement of new  variants  - not the unvaccinated.  The virus are evolving new variants to get around he vaccines.    The media is quiet about it in the UK and USA.    Why are the SA Government and statistics locally indicate  that the variant wave is abating with a host of other info indicating that the Comiron variant is weak with lesser hospitalization - why in the USA, the UK and EU countries the variant has more serious consequences from a hospitalization perspective than  in the more advanced countries.

There is one other aspects listed in   an article above - and that is the number of deaths above the norm in SA.    There is one aspect which should be borne in mind.    When the virus struck SA - coming from Europe and  China - the SA Government put the strictest lockdown imaginable in place.    The result was a total disruption of food supplies and the fact that the poor already suffer from diet deficiency and food shortages caused major starvation - especially in the trial areas.   That could account for tens of thousands of deaths through starvation.  The stress caused also increased domestic violence  and hospitals and medical services struggled to cope with that as well.

One of the problems with reporting of deaths were that originally reporting in SA  inidcated the morbidities suffered from - but that stopped later on.   So was the virus deaths really the result of the virus or was the real cause the morbidities?    In Africa more so - but also in SA food supply is essential to stop starvation. and that went  AWOL    You musty also bear in mind that thousands of people from Southern Africa buy essentials  like food and other things from shops on the borders - but the orders were closed and travel within provinces in SA prohibited and that had ghastly consequences as well.

The Government this time around did not put travel restrictions in place for obvious reasons.   It is totally unrealistic and does not prevent infection.   Ramaphosa realized that and when Biden put travel restrictions on SA told him it was foolish  - he must get credit for that and afterwards refused to participate in a tele-conference  amongst democratic countries Biden  tried to hold.   Why discuss anything woth an idi0ot like Biden?

There were near to 2  million illegals flooding into the USA  from  110 countries world wide and his importing of the virus was unlimited.    So the USA has their own  problems caused by idiocy.

Absolute BS...The UK is almost fully vaccinated and they have exponentially more cases than a poorly vaccinated South Africa...viruses mutate untill they become harmless...the Omicron variant is a good thing...more viral,  but way less harmfull, what you would want to happen to get rid of a pandemic...why are you even complaining?

A country like Australia might not think Omicron is great.
They have done well before vaccinations and were able to vaccinate most of the population.

People are also getting infected more than once, so Omicron is not great. People have been infected and vaccinated, and still, get Omicron. 

For countries most infected by Covid, Omicron may be good (Like South Africa). 
Not many countries have over 70% of their population infected by Covid. The more people that get infected, the more chance for mutation. Vaccines make people less sick from Covid, reducing chances for mutation.

Where did you get that 70% infection BS from?    Secondly Scientists have expressed serious concern about mutation is a result of the virus reacting to the vaccines causing the variants.   Viruses if meeting no resistance will not change  and those meeting resistance will try and get around it.

Maaik...most scientists and doctors in South Africa think that 60 to 70% of South Africans have already been exposed to covid and have natural immunity...I can't think why the rest of the world would by significantly different though...except for China, Aus, NZ and a few other places able to properly curb the spread.

The death rate has gone down significantly in the UK. Today 157,758 new coronavirus cases with just 42 virus-related deaths were reported. It might be time to start listing daily deaths by vaccinated and unvaccinated. If 90% of the deaths are unvaccinated, suddenly it is around 5 deaths today of vaccinated people. This is not much different than flu...

Even in states with low vaccination rates, the death rate should be lower with Omicron.

Omnicron is not flu....I have had some bad flu's over the years....in fact I don't take flu jabs anymore.

The fatigue with Omnicron is totally different from flu fatigue.

I did have the vaccination but Delta does not protect against Omnicrom.One apparently has 

T cell protection which would be protection against worse infection.

Countries in the Southern Hemisphere are at least getting hit by the highly infectious Omicron in summer, rather than winter.
