The following is the team as announced:-

15 Israel Dagg, 14 George Moala, 13 Sonny Bill Williams, 12 Ryan Crotty, 11 Charles Piutau, 10 Daniel Carter, 9 Andy Ellis, 8 Kieran Read, 7 Richie McCaw, 6 Jerome Kaino, 5 Sam Whitelock, 4 Luke Romano, 3 Owen Franks, 2 Keven Mealamu, 1 Tony Woodc ock

Substitutes: 16 Hikawera Elliot, 17 Wyatt Crockett, 18 Nepo Laulala, 19 Brodie Retallick, 20 Matt Todd, 21 Brad Weber, 22 Colin Slade, 23 Charlie Ngatai

None of the players involved in the final between the Highlanders and the Hurricanes have been included in the team and this is obviously not the team that would be involved in the RC.    A very strong team nonetheless.

Thanks for pointing that one out.   I think that would basically be the forward pack they would go to the RC and WC with - potentially with Retallick and Cole added.   This is where I believe the AB's are going to struggle in the upcoming tournaments.

..Strange to see Paul Perez who plays wing for the Natal Sharks has been named at centre for Samoa and Tuilagi a centre on the wing.....then for NZ ,Moala another centre on the wing for the ABs ...weird considering he's been one of the Super XV 's form centres ...not sure what Crotty has done this year  but can only assume Charlie Ngatai will come on and replace him anyway.. then we'll have Ngatai and Moala on at the same time - not a bad thing...

Do not read too much into this "experimental" team - I am sure we will see changes and additions before the RWC - like with the Springboks, there are a few very good youngsters in Kiwi land that are chomping at the bit.
The team who beat the ABs in this year's RWC will have to be a damn good team.  Looking at the standard of rugby played in the final S15 game and it can only get better... But then, there is always Suzy...

@brycy,

what has crotty done all year??? about as much as SBW.

the best reason to have crotty in the midfeild partnered up with SBW is that SBW dosent have the mental ability to coordinate the backline on defence and non setpeice attacks.
crottys rugby nous is of the same mould as snakes minus the experience.

moala is the backline version of pigmarck du plessis, one dumb piece of ship. him and SBW in the midfeild is just the advantage samoa would look to exploit.
best have him on the wing where he can run havok and be not be too much of a liability.

i also think u have ur tuilagi brothers mixed up.
alesana tuilagi has never played center for samoa, and ive never seen him play center in club rugby up north either.

only change to this team i would make is having sam cane on the bench over todd and i would have started hika elliot who needs as much AB gametime as possible so that he can get his groove back quicker.

having slade, crockett and the worlds best lock and rugby player brodie retallick on the bench means we have nice experience to c all on should things turn pear shaped.

cant wait for this game tomorrow, even took off the day for it,

Sasu... the Crusaders backline was found wanting this year and if not for Nadolo things could have been much worse...lot of people i've heard asking what Crotty's done though not just me...doubt whether he'll get much game time with Ngatai on the bench anyway..

..SBW wasn't that great either - without Cruden and his passing game the Chiefs were pretty much screwed but at least they managed to make the playoffs...

...ATuilagi is a centre according to Wikipedia... haven't followed him much but he's big and powerful so would have thought he'd be a better candidate than an untested Perez who has yet to ever play a game at centre...

..Sam Cane being rested after an epic Super XV campaign..

brycy,

wikipedias got it wrong, trust me alesana tuilagis a winger, but im sure he could play centre if he had to.

i got a different theory on SBW average season. he bit of more than he could chew with his league, boxing and rugby schedule.
its good to have him in the team, but he needs the All Blacks, the All Blacks dosent need him or anyone for that matter, a fact poven in 2013 when the All Blacks acheived the hardest feat in world rugby.

crusaders found wanting this year??? best attack in the competition, 2nd most trys scored. dont forget it took the SARU enforced welfare rule for the crusaders to miss their first finals.
nadolo helped change things around, but this is the crusaders were talking about, i doubt anyone would bet against that the crusaders ability to change  their fortunes without the help of nadolo.

crotty may have had an average 2015 spXV season, but hes still easily been on of the crusaders top 3 players for the last 4 years.
the most important thing to understand is that current form is not a prerequisite for All Black selection, this is a saving grace for not just crotty, but for SBW, dagg and woodc0ck too.

Looks like the game is playing at 4 am my time
Naru san; I agree on SBW & burnout. Every year that goes by means the body is less able recover as fast from the pounding. Glad he had a forced rest & hope he learned something.
