I thought the All Blacks started the tournament well and then lost the plot a bit in the games against Namibia and Tonga when they suddenly looked like mere mortals again . . . but that performance against an admittledly flat French team was bordering on the incredible. That is how rugby should be played.
I'm expecting New Zealand to humiliate the Springboks and then go on to win a well deserved final . . . hopefully against Los Pumas who have been nothing short of magnificent!

 the all blacks is playing a great game pattern......based on current form the boks would do well to keep in to under 30 
as much as it pains me to say. meyer is going to go ultra conservative and the attacking machine will eat the mindless kicking and limp attacking game up for breakfest

 Good to see Pumas play so well and be rewarded for that brand of rugby. 
The games this weekend were fantastic (admittedly I only saw part of the Boks game). This weekend performances should keep disgruntled fans (those of teams who were eliminated) watching the subseque nt games I hope.

I have been quite critical of the RWC in the past because it's quite a newfangled concept and doesn't have the traditions of the FIFA WC let alone the prestige of a British and Irish Lions Tour . . . but it generates drama and excitement like very few other global tournaments.
I was literally gutted with the Scot's loss this evening. If ever a team fronted up and gave their national soul to the cause it was the Scots this evening . . . and they should have been rewarded with a famous victory.

 NZ used a similar pattern that the Stormers used. Only difference was that they spread their pods out a bit more and play off each other more. Nothing revolutionary about it. They also have big runners that go forward. The Stormers played the same pattern but didn't have anyone to straighten the attack, so the wide-wide game became too lateral. Maybe they will beat the Boks. Certainly a wider alignment will force our weak centres to cover more space and defend strongly on their own. That's where Damians decision making is questionable. But that wide spread by NZ only works if they can win clean ball. The French were committing few numbers at the breakdown. Against SA they will have to concentrate more on ball retention and they will have fewer options and much less time on the ball. France had a passive drift for most of the game that failed because the edge defender was exposed on the outside and disconnected from his 12 too often. The back three were poor in their decision making to work the pendulum and come up into line and defend and that allowed NZ to flood the outside. Many tries scored from this. You cannot back off and expect NZ to be stopped. That game was just target practice for NZ. The Boks rush up and attack with their defence. It will be a completely different type of game. If the Boks can impose themselves on NZ physically they will disrupt them. We already did it in the RC when NZ tried the very same thing! 

 Foxie the wee abs fans are getting hysterical about a win against a pathetic French team. I could scarcely believe how pathetic they were. Defended like girls!
Lets just hope Lood and Bissie are fit and we can get srtuck into them. 
All I would have liked to see is a Kriel - even if off the bench.

same pattern as the stormers ??? seems you only watch the forwards running onto the ball...does the site of big men running in groups and clutching each other "in allister no cups coetzee's immortal words" exite you.....
there is no stormers pattern in the nz style of play...the stormers backline crapped in a narrow channel with no width or speed on attack. if there was a nz element to the stormers play why was they the team with the lowest tries scored ???...forwards running in pods is as common as teams playing with a rugby ball. every side in the world plays that play. its a basic setup play tactic to suck in defenders to create space out wide....only usefull if you actually use that to create space.....

 The entire Stormers game plan was using pods on wide attacks to ensure continuity lf of possession. Then they had backs play off them. They did this all through the Super XV! Used the same wide wide pattern. But the Stormers pods were bunched together more. NZ like to spread them out so they have numbers all across the width and can attack from any position, but don't be fooled, they were operating as mini units. But essentially they were both doing the same thing. But the stormers didn't have Nonu or Savea to punch through and carry the attack forward. Too little muscle in the backs. 
I do read them, and it is the reality of the situation. Not what you want to hear though. You probably don't want to hear the Cheetahs are much closer to the application of NZs patterns either, huh? Another sad reality for you then. No wonder you are such a miserable "supporter". Can't ever get the better of reality.

cheethas are playing true bok rugby....or old wp rugby. the cheetahs as been playing there pattern for over a 80 odd years so i cannot see how they are copying nz.....nz was not always the force they are now back in the day.....bok rugby was the trend setting pattern and the whole world wanted to copy us back then......
its been the cheetah way and with there limited resources they have been able to compete on pattern alone for that 80 odd years. 

 if you want to draw a comparison to sa teams trying to play a nz pattern then you should look at the lions...thats is more a nz pattern than a sa pattern.
