CHICKEN dealing with you hardly involves any heat.......its like taking candy from a baby

There are some men with rugby knowledge on here.......you are not one of them - evidenced by the fact that no one bothers to respond to you other than to tell you how thick you are.

But you are so thick that it just does not register with you.

As for JJ cementing his place.......well given how bloody pathetic Fourie was on the EOYT, Meyer only confirmed what a clown he is for not selecting JJ.

As for builders and dashers........you are just too thick to begin to understand that......stay away fuckwit

I made a study of your comments on building an innings and bashing by players and came to the following conclusion after studying the outcomes of  most of the ODI's played over the past year (I left out the Champions series and the SriLanka series since we were so bloody awful in those.

From that study it is clear that there are two requirements for winning games, namely-

   *   the builder must make a very good score; and

   *   unless building entails a runs per over rate of circa 4 no amount of building will win games.

There were games where Smith made 66 runs from 129 balls and Kallis 50 from 90 balls and we lost the matches.  Where the rpo rate of the builders were 3rpo or below - the matches were lost.

The theory  works - but then the batters must be reliable in producing acceptable scores.   That was one of the worst failures of Smith over the last three years.  Even where he did score runs it was at a rate applicable to test cricket - not ODI's. Matter of fact it was during the 1st Indian ODI recently - where the commentator said that it was the first time in three years  that SA produced an opening stand in excess of 100 runs in ODI's.

If your openers regularly fail and even where innings building is in evidence but at too slow a run rate - innings building in ODI's is a dead loss.

Rubbish Mike, if a builder bats at a strike rate of 65% and the dashers bat at a strike rate of over 100% then you will always post a score of between 250 and 300........if Kallis made 50 off 90.....that leaves 210 balls at a strike rate of over 100% for the dashers to make say 220.......add that to Kallis's 50 and you have a competitive score of 270 odd.

Kallis will have helped to keep an end while the dashers did their dashing and bashing

Mike, let's be serious. Cricket is a funny old game and I know that you think that I am just trying to defend Smith and Kallis for the sake of defending them and keeping an argument alive, but it is not the case.

Yes, I agree that there have been matches where we have lost and where the openers/top order either went out cheap and early or scored slowly. Thing is that there are no two matches that are alike. That is why it is important that your batsmen have to be high quality, intelligent and extremely disciplined. In and ideal world each and every batsman should be 100% able to be adventurous when needed and and conservative when needed. All of our top batsmen has those features. Each and every one of them has the ability to go run chasing and each and every one of them has the ability to defend a wicket if and where necessary. The question is the discipline and concentration to do the right thing at the right time. The key is also the confidence and maturity of the players. You would always see our batsmen communicating between balls, like all quality batsmen should do. That is something that only comes with experience and experience is something that money cannot buy.

As far as Kallis and Smith is concerned, both of them have made a career decision. It was basically the same decision but with different outcomes. They have both arrived at a point where they had to make a decision about their futures. Kallis decided to call it a day as far as test cricket is concerned and concentrate on the shorter version. Smith started to ease out of things to concentrate on test cricket. He started by stepping back from the captaincy roles. First the T20 captaincy and then the ODI captaincy. I am sure that it was done in consultation with CSA. AB still needs a lot of guidance as far as captaincy is concerned. Faf, IMO, is a better captain and is doing quite well in captaining the T20 side. Thing is that between the two of them Faf is the more experienced captain. He was in fact always AB's captain in their junior days.

As far as Smith's batting performances are concerned, every batsman goes through patches where their performances takes a dip. There is not a single batsman who has never had it and the only way out is to keep playing, and that is what makes cricket a bit different. You can carry someone who is not 100% up to scratch. He will come back. He always has and I am sure that, like Kallis, he will call it a day when he knows that he is going to go down. Sure he is technically not 100% but he has never in his life been 100%. Not when he went for ducks and not when he made his first double century at Lord's.

There is also a recent development that is a major setback for SA cricket. It is the fallout between Alviro Peterson and the Lions management. The result is that Peterson resigned as captain and the captaincy was handed to Thami Tsolekile. The consequences? Thami will be taking the gloves and Quinton de Kock will probably be pushed out somewhere in the field. This is only my speculation but QDK is a young man and he needs to be guided through this because he might well feel that he has been pushed out. We cannot afford QDK to be sidelined by his franchise.

I cannot differ from you as to your latest posting.   I think that Smith is silently admitting that he is not producing the goods in the shorter versions of the game anymore and he is easing himself out of contention for the ODI's and the T20 formats.

Insofar as Kallis is concerned everyone feels that it is his personal wish to take part in the 2015 WC - but there are serious reservations whether he would have enough playing time between now and the WC to be a serious contender.   Most commentators said that he will not have sufficient playing time to remain match fit and I think he will not mnake it.

I do not think that Smith is admitting anything. we have to remember that he has been at the pinnacle of all three of the SA teams. He has been and is still playing test cricket for almost the last 12 years. Ricky Ponting had a longer test career (17 years) but he has only been captain for seven of those. Smith has been captain for the last the last ten years and has gone through a lot more shit than what Ponting had in his entire career. He got married and now has a kid as well and I am sure that he would like to calm down a bit and get the stress levels down. If he had been thinking that his form was a serious issue, he would have resigned from the ODI squad like Kallis did from the test squad, and not only have relinquished the captaincy.

I am sure that Kallis will have enough time to play limited overs cricket. Remember that he will not be part of the long touring squads any more and he will have a lot more time to play domestic limited overs cricket, while the rest of the squad is battling out in the test matches. I think that if he the 2015 CWC is his aim, this is the best way for him to go about it. He will get a lot more exposure to one day cricket than what he had till now. Remember that he will also have less bowling to do as well.

For some reason or another SA plays less international crocket than other countries.   You will notice that from the number of tests and ODI;s we play in per year,     Problem is that there may be as few as 20 ODI;s  played between now and the WC and they would be played in batches months apart from each other,   The local competition is equally limited and often enough clashes with the ODI's.   So Kallis will have months of non-playing in between potential games.   Will that be enough to keep him match fit?   Nobody seems to think so.  There is a big difference between his wish and practicality.

Smith is being phased out of real contention in ODI's - he is already out of the t20 squad.  Nothing will be said about that one - he will just not make the team anymore,  Too many recent poor performances are counting against him.  He is in then phasing out stage and that is a fact,

Your latest posting is a complete lot of irrational rubbish both logically and from a mathematical perspective.    Lets get real please.   First of all we agree that a player building an innings must score at 65% of balls faced - ie 4 rpo's.

Then you went on to calculate that Kallis making 50 runs could lead to a score of 270 runs.   Problem is you forgot that he took 90 balls  to make the 50 runs - that equates to 55% or 3,1 rpo's.   That means that   all the other batters must average about 7 rpo's - a virtual impossibility.

In the relevant match case the team made 195 runs.   Because your hero Graeme Smith made 1 run from 20 balls faced - the total of 196 actually amounts to 5 rpo average for the other batters.   Players like Smith pulled that average down massively and even though he is not going to be around there will inevitably be other failures - so your calculation is mumbo-jumbo to say the least,

Stick to 65% and if Kallis was batting at 65% and Smith did not fail so miserably a reasonable total would have been possible - as it was it was not and the game was lost.

What domestic competition?  There is only one in SA and that is in October - November each year and entails about 10 matches per franchise.   Very little to keep match fit on.  His only hope seems to be to get a county contract to play in England - but will that actually happen?

Hell man - your theory goes sour.   There will be other batters like Smith with his one run for 20 balls -  - that will not match the 7rpo requirement and that makes the score and rate of 3,1 rpo (55%) totally unacceptable.  WE lost that game and that proves my point.

You yourself said 65% - no suddenly 55% is acceptable - are you serious?

Would be good. I am not sure if he has any ties. I know Graeme Smith has signed a three year deal with Surrey.

No Mike, you have just yet again been exposed for the fool you are......maths is obviously not s strong point.

So as I keep saying there will ALWAYS be a spot for Smith in ODI's especially now that Kallis has gone. We only have two established builders left.......Amla and Smith

Dream on thinking that because of the builder role Smith is indispensable.   In all the ODI's I went through it was found that Smith was in fact THE POOREST BUILDER.   The best builders were -

*   Quinton de Kock - he  constantly made good runs but for one ODI - his run rate in th best biuuilding innings were 112 runs from 188 balls.   The run  rate always vary around 3,6 rpo and 4 rpo.    Constantly made more runs at a higher run rate than Smith.

*   The second best builder was Faf du Plessis  Same as De Kock - but he did not score a century.

*   The third best was Amla -  he made about as many small scores as Smith did - but still made more runs than Smith - at a much higher rpo rate than Smith - about 5,7%

Smiths problem was his rpo - it constantly was between 2,7 and 3,3 rpo,    That made his "building" a way to a loosing alley.   I have only studied performances this year.   They did not look good.

Smith will most likely not get an  IPL contract this year - shows what others thing of his capacity in the shorter versions of the game.  Very poor at best.  He has gone backward badly in that components of the game.

Ha ha good one Saffex. No one responds to me because I don't know my rugby. Ha ha surely not even you believe that Saff?? Has it ever occurred to you that maybe it's because 90% of the time guys agree and my point is valid. It may differ from certain others but will be aligned with how the rest feel.
Has it occurred to you that you get so much feedback as your views do not reflect anyone else's thought process and is just plain down fucked up and wrong? How many guys have u called stupid because they don't know rugby but you do?? Nearly everyone. Common denominator Saff.
You are way too easy. Talk about taking candy from babies. Go on Saff, tell us how Jean is past it and Jantjies and Mnisi are the future.

Chicken, I'll tell you why no one responds to you other than to tell you what are a thick twat you are.....

By way of example.......you keep banging on about Jantjies and Mnisi being my future when those with brains will have registered ages ago that neither of these players have featured in any of my Bok sides, I just rate them you stupid prick.

But given how stupid you are, no doubt you will be telling me again next week how Jantjies and Mnisi are my choices.

You are one fucking stupid baboon.......but don't leave us, this board needs your stupidity
