Bring back Carlos

I won't say anything else as I'm sure that everyone agrees that Carlos Spencer is the greatest player of this generation or any other.

That truly says it all. But I notice you have posted twice, so I was just wondering what you other post could have been about. Given the seminal nature of this material it would be a shame to miss it!

Carlos was done years ago and is actually 36 years old now. In 2004 it was clear he was past his use-by date. He was overly one-dimensional and thusly discarded by Henry after they finished bottom of the TNs that year.

Sadly, he then came to my Club, Northampton and stayed a number of years !!

As was stated, he had been more or less cast out by NZ and the Blues, which is why he came here in the first place.

Apart from one match against Saracens, at a time when they had no Coach and were totally lost in terms of confidence etc, he was a very expensive and devisive mistake. Some foolishly worship the ground he walked on. I'm afraid he never fooled me !

Hi there imisscarlos and welcome. Carlos at his best was a brilliant player. Bit like Quade Cooper. When it goes wrong though folk write off the player for getting what he has achieved - eg Reds win Super 15 title.

Carlos was a very exciting runner and distributor. He had some innovative things like the banna kick. He has achieved wonders with the Lions as a backline coach. Wouldn't mind him coaching Bok backline. Much better than Alistair or Muir for sure.

The problem with players like Quade and Carlos are that they are one dimensional. In a game like Rugby League, where kicking is not done until your last phase of play before you have to concede possession. In Union, teams require more dynamism from their 10s. They have to distribute, kick, tackle and engage defences. It's very easy to counter players like Cooper and Carlos and that's why their success is very limited.
