Flyhalf is one of the most important positions in a team and without doubt the best should be playing there. This obviousness seems to not be so for some coaches.

As Blackladder stuck not playing Carter at 10, now Rennie sticks not playing Damian McKenzie there and benching him.

The 3 matches he has played there he's been outstanding. Good pace and distribution skills while very dangerous ball in hand and counterattacking. His brother is nowhere near him but Rennie continues playing Marthy at 10 now Cruden is injured. I cannot understand it.

And seems risky taking into account that the chiefs next 2 games are crucial for their classification.

P.S. If next season he's going to continue being the third option of the chiefs he would be very wellcome in the saders (without Carter, Slade and Taylor)

Abasquefan: sometimes I think these coaches are too smart for their own good as the selections don't make sense.
In the case of Damian McKenzie perhaps the coach is taking care of him as he is a young player & he may not want to put too much pressure on him - bring him along slowly.
However, this is the critical part of the season so all that can be done to win should be done. It could also be that he has some kind of niggle and the coach may not want him to play 80 mins.

I don't rate Damian at all. Where is Donald when you need him (answer: whitebaiting of course)

Agree with you Abasque - Damian should be starting. Not sure I understand what Rennie is doing here, but the type of coach he is he must have his reasons.
Damian is a real playmaker
