All jokes aside, Dave may have a bit of a fixation with the hopelessly overrated Willie le Roux but I'd entrust him with the Springbok coaching job ahead of the current idiot and his fawning Gimps like Moffie and Desert Fool.

Rooitwit you do realise you are behaving like Dave's gimp! Put Willie in a backline coached to play some decent attacking rugby watch him go.

Here's the thing AAS....you have never had anything so much as a parking spot in your gift...let alone the Bok coaching job. Hell not even Bok latrine cleaner. Have you got off the programme and started to drink the hard stuff again?

So are you talking about the ABs backline beandoper ?I have no doubt Willie would blossom there for sure , hell even a mung bean like you could score a try or two off the golden chariot ride the ABs backline offers !

Imagine the poor commentators trying to spot Dave chatting with his men....the poor chap  is so short he could walk onto the park hand in hand with the Bok captain and pass for a particularly hirsute mascot.

What irks me as armchair critic is the sometimes dead obvious strategic blunders our teams make. I know it's never as simple as it looks, but can anyone tell me why, in 2011 vs Aus, we did not try a few drop goals? We had 70% plus field and ball, Morne Steyn and could not get over the line. Why not make the game safe ala Jannie de Beer like vs the poms in 99?We lost by 1 drop!

Closer to the present, why did our vaunted lineout not try on opposition ball.

And why did they almost never use Eben in the LO? Why kick in a way you can't at least compete to get the ball back? Use the line or space? Noo! We kicked it on wings and FBs with no hope of the chasers even getting close to putting pressure on the receivers...well most of the time anyway.

No chaps......you have misread me.....I was responding to Mikes post where he attempted to narrow down my list.
I said Kolisi, Coenie and Jantjies etc should be added to his list.
Jaco Kriel would be my starting 6, Pollard my 10 and Malherbe following his WC performances would be my starting 3

Jirre but you lot are funny.  Daddy, don't let them discourage you.  I still have that picture you gave me of Gerald Bosch.  Remember how you used to tell me (I was only two then) that this guy will oneday be remembered as the greatest flyhalf the world has ever seen, do you remember Daddy.  That is also when you told Mommy and me that we will soon be out of this hellhole of a Motherwell location, remember Daddy?
Mommy is still stuck there and you don't even visit anymore.  Remember how you used to sing to me in Afrikaans Daddy?  Now it seems you have lost that tong - sitting there on that muddy island has made you an aloof person hey Daddy?
But, the flights of fancy are still the same, shame, Mommy says to let you know you need to take your medicine regularly..

Nice Saffex. Also agree that as an over all assessment of players, the vast majority of that was spot on. Jantjies should defs have walked into the squad. He was by a serious distance the best SA S15 10 this season. Again, when you look through that list of names, it's fkin tragic that Meyer had all that time to prepare and yet went to the WC with the team he did. It's a pity we can't play the Lions Cc team against the Boks, just to show how little cohesion HM cultivated. Sorry Mozart, i dont agree with you though. You pick your BEST team, and then your job as coach is to bring the best out of your best team. You spot cohesive weaknesses and you fix them. As much as I hate to do it I will make an AB comparison. Name any guy in the AB team who shouldn't ha e been there. Pretty tough huh. Yeah people said Carter, Richie McWhoreFace, Nonu etc were long in the tooth and weren't sure about them...but the difference is that they were all playing well. Maybe Carter was a touch average in the lead up. NONE of the Bok question marks had been doing well and some had zero game time. So yes, there is a difference. You pick your BEST form players. End of.

Suit yourself....but if Carter, Nonu, Smith and McCaw were playing for the Boks you would be calling for their replacement. Their form coming into the WC was no better than out vets.

What form are you talking about?  The form of De Villies and Du Preez was non-existent, in the few Super Series Alberts played in he was atrocious.   Jannie was bad in the year before on both Super 15 and test level and the least said about Matfield's form (or lack of form) the better it would be.
The same cannot be said about the AB's players mentioned - they never were sub-par in form like the so-called Springbok vets were.  What a comparison by a deluded mind whose idea of form is non-existent.

Hey Mozart I hear ya. But nah, if I look at those 3 players I mentioned. I'd no chance have called for em to be left at home. Yes, hindsight is 20/20 but if we look at each of those guys prior to the WC, they totally deserved their spot. In fact two of the three would be the first two names on the teams sheet. Nonu was a key figure in probably the best attacking club outfit this year. McCaw, i fuuuucking hate him and still believe he is a cheat but i cant remember him having a bad game or going invisible in an AB games in recent history...plus he is their talisman. Carter though...i do agree that I'd have been in two minds about him. Though, considering he is the best 10 that has ever been, according to some, I'd probably not have made too much noise about his inclusion. Jannie, Ruan, Jean, Fourie, Victor, Willem, Morne...totally different story. These were the guys everyone said should not be there but Meyer knew better. Then surprise surprise...the only one of then who managed anything was Fourie with the try against Wales. And that try was nothing special, though it only seemed so because of the game.situation. A situation we should never hqve been in in the first place. Then, aside from the obvious ones above, we can look at the less obvious selection blunders. Willie, Brian, Beast, Schalk and a few others. Those guys all have very worthy replacements that I feel, again hindsight is great, would have done a lot better. Let's not forget that Willie almost cost us the Welsh game and Schalk only seemed to play well because he was constantly fed the ball...and failed miserably to make much ground. I wonder if Jaco Kriel had been given this much ball how he'd have done with it. He'd probably be ranked world player of the year, considering Schalk made the RC dream team haha Dammit, another long post. My bad :/

Sas has a far better appreciation of the talent we have at our disposal than you do Moffie as you are clueless.......says plenty that a Kiwi is in tune with my take on players.....we are on the same wavelength......one that would be a winning one......unlike your takes which mirror our loser of a Bok coach.

Both of you are pathetically conservative

Yeah Plum its a travesty that we went to the WC with a conservative prick as a coach who saw fit to insult us with the likes of Kirchner, Mvovo, Jean, Morne, du Preez, Pienaar, Paige, Jannie, Brits, Matfield, Louw and Alberts somehow being a representation of the best players we had at our disposal.

To think that he saw fit to ignore the talents of Kolbe, Senatla, Serfontein, Mnisi, Jantjies, Hougaard, Faf, Reinach, Kitshoff, Marcel v/d Merwe, Willemse, Jacques du Plessis, Coetzee, Jaco Kriel, Carr and Arno Botha to name but some.

Utter disgrace - hence the results. We can only hope that this sorry excuse for a coach is sacked.....with the help of a number of ex Bok captains
