Meyer to return to Bulls in 2016?2015-06-09 15:09POST A COMMENTSHARE THISHeyneke Meyer (Gallo Images)RELATED LINKS

  • Cape Town - Could Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer possibly return to the Bulls after this year’s Rugby World Cup?

READ: Ludeke to get a promotion at Bulls?

    According to the supersport.com website,

the South African Rugby Union (SARU)

has not offered Meyer an extension of his contract beyond the current Rugby World Cup.

While talks are ongoing at SARU about

Meyer’s future, it is understood the Bulls

would be happy to return him and his

management team to Loftus Versfeld if he

    doesn’t continue as Bok coach.

The future of current Bulls coach Frans

Ludeke appears uncertain after the men

    from Pretoria

again failed to reach the Super Rugby

    playoffs.

Ludeke has a contract with the Bulls until

October 2016, but there are rumours he

    could be

relieved of his coaching duties, while there

is also talk of Ludeke being promoted to

    Director of Rugby.

How Meyer would come into the picture

remains an open question, but his availability

would in all likelihood depend on how well

the Boks perform in 2015, and whether

Meyer has his Bok contract extended.

Jake White won the World Cup and was not offered a job extension. Rumour has it that his job was being advertised about one year before the world cup.
Meyer has done a decent job and spent most of his time ranked as the 2nd best team in the world.
I dont think their is a coach in South Africa that is better than Meyer, so if we recruit someone else it will need to be from New Zealand.

You are right about Meyer Sharkbok. He has achieved so much more with a very limited pool of talent than Peter did with the best and most complete Bok team in history. The fact that he won't be retained means we lose his experience and expertise just as we are starting to see the next generation come more into its own. It's a tragic mistake. Don't think a New Zealander will be the answer, historically they don't fare very well in SA, except when coaching backs alone. Expect four years of stuttering and less than satisfactory results. Maybe then our fairweather fake fans who continually demanded Meyer be sacked will learn the art of silencing their gaping noise chasm.

Fingers crossed we see the back of this average coach as our Bok coach......had such high hopes for him but what an utter let down he has been.

Far too bloody conservative

He's a hard time as coach of South Africa, he's done loads behind the scenes and has had to develop a squad after the worst exodus of players that a nation has ever experienced. He hasn't made it any easier for himself mind with some poor selections as well as having some poor coaches 'supporting' him.
