Well I just checked in my library, and I have two versions of War and Peace. The simple hard cover of the Maude translation...and an Easton Press leather bound version for its 100 greatest books series, translated and revised by the Maudes.
But here's the thing, neither have Lev Tolstoy as the author.

Mozart it is LEV in Russian tongue...the problem is the Cyrrilic alphaphet.

When Russians translate into English alphabet they use the right sounding note.

You take the town of Korolev (Space Research Centre,Moscow Region) where my wife used to work)...it is PRONOUNCED Korolov...if you Cyrillic letters it will hieroglyfics if you do not understand their alphabet.

You are just being difficult and they say in die taal...haregat.

Much ado about Nothing.

Trivial matters.

This is the problem between a lot of posters in RUGBY matters...you go on and on and on on about silly things...one guy deems this player good than the other and an other does not.

It results in mindless ramblings and trickery and manipulation of stats and videos which don't changed fixed mindsets...the one refusing to give to the other.

Just childish and foolish pride...Honesty and Humility that's sadly lacking.

Debate should NEVER end up like those foolish ramblings in parliament (especially ours).

There are no winners in this situation...insults start flying around and the hyenas start coming teaming up together against the prey or the outnumbered adversary.

This post was meant to be friendly, enquiring and pleasant but ends up like this...

No English translation will  ever have Lev Tolstoy as the author...neither of my two translations by the same translators he claims, do. Which suggests to me his whole story is a lie...it wouldn't be the first lie he has told on the Board. I have recorded more than ten.
I'm sure you were honest in your intentions Chabal....but it produced the usual load of Tokkie self promotion.  Which made it fair game. Spare me the sermons

Let's all gather together and sing Kumbaya?  Nah, not my style. As for making a fool of myself, my fool, my self. Mind your own business.

 Dopstoy ;

It was Christmas Eve babe

In the drunk tank
An old man said to me, won't see another one
And then he sang a song
The Rare Old Mountain Dew
I turned my face away
And dreamed about you

Got on a lucky one
Came in eighteen to one
I've got a feeling
This year's for me and you
So happy Christmas
I love you baby
I can see a better time
When all our dreams come true

They've got cars big as bars
They've got rivers of gold
But the wind goes right through you
It's no place for the old
When you first took my hand
On a cold Christmas Eve
You promised me
Broadway was waiting for me

You were handsome
You were pretty
Queen of New York City
When the band finished playing
They howled out for more
Sinatra was swinging,
All the drunks they were singing
We kissed on a corner
Then danced through the night

The boys of the NYPD choir
Were singing "Galway Bay"
And the bells were ringing out
For Christmas day

You're a bum
You're a punk
You're an old slut on junk
Lying there almost dead on a drip in that bed
You scumbag, you maggot
You cheap lousy faggot
Happy Christmas your arse
I pray God it's our last

The boys of the NYPD choir
Still singing "Galway Bay"
And the bells were ringing out
For Christmas day

I could have been someone
Well so could anyone
You took my dreams from me
When I first found you
I kept them with me babe
I put them with my own
Can't make it all alone
I've built my dreams around you

The boys of the NYPD choir
Still singing "Galway Bay"
And the bells are ringing out
For Christmas day

Spoken by the real village idiot.  I used the Russian name of the author and the idiot goes bananas - normal with him though..  He never knew what Tolstoy's real name was and got caught in a web of lies and slander.  Normally a low born idiot , he went even lower.
When Seb points out the real situation - lowborn Mozart turned on him as well - normal stuff with the skunk.

Using a concept like "low born" says it all. Not an attribute of the individual, but of his birth. The kind of attitude that spawned the "Untouchables" and all sorts of bigoted and racial attitudes. "Low born" is a laser into your soul Pervert.
And you, I suppose, were "high born" Saayman?

 Sure
My family was well-known and respected in the Southern and Western Cape.  I can remember a function attended by 3 cabinet Ministers in 1966 on the family farm.   Two of my mothers cousins were members of Parliament for the Mossel Bay constituency - one being Chairman of Parliament up to 1994.
I have no raci st attitudes - according to Dave I leave that kind of thing to you.
