Huge Lambie hype today in 365
Moz I really don't get what you are so anti Pat for......he is anything but timid and a bloody talented rugby player.
How on earth can you find favour in such an ordinary player like useless Morne but tear into Pat at every opportunity......you make no sense at all.
You always back the crap players......de Jongh springs to mind.......or players well past their sell by date.......Matfield
"You always back the crap players......de Jongh JJ springs to mind.......
Lambie is a "Class Act"....Moz
Um Matfield was good 5 years ago.....utterly useless these days.......big difference
Best 10 in the country.
About time he took up his rightful spot.
* he stands too deep in the pocket;* he never attacks the gain line and is ignored by opposition defenders, who all go for and besiege the 12;* being robotic he must be told in advance what to do, since he cannot read games and freezes up when he has to change from kicking away inaccurately everything coming his way to passing the ball and his service is consequently slow
A match-loser par excellence - the Perth test being a typical example.
He's a plodder that kicks everything away aimlessly and with a useless "ooops I forgot to switch the light on" Pienaar on his inside ... well ... need I say more?
Carbuncle you are a tonic.
Huh??
"barel restrain my laughter"
sounds serious ... is that a condition of some sort ... I'd have it looked at if I were you ...
Oh and Lambie has never had a "defrensive" issue in his life ... whatever that is ...
Um Moz, Lambie is not a fullback......you will find he has played most of his rugby at 10 while filling in here and there at 15.
Lambie is a class 10, up there with the best in the game.
He is not a 15
He has never been anything of note at 15 as he hardly plays there.
Pat is a 10 who can play 15, jus t like Frans is a 12 who can play 10 or 15.
Disagree....Frans was superb at 12 in the RWC final. He was superb at 10 last year for the Sharks. He almost singlehandedly beat the Saders when the Sharks were down to 10 men. This year he played little rugby, so admittedly some confirmation of form would be nice.
His strong point is hand to hand combat, he is not an open field type runner like many modern 15s. He suits 12 and especially 10 better.
Steyn's lack of pace and slow reactions is a fact of life and that will not change. He was a serious flop in 2013 when his coach said he is not a center at all and dropped him from the Sharks starting line-up. His only asset in 2014 was his kicking at goal - his defense was shocking and his attacking ability worse - the regular backline saboteur who drove the spectators away from Kings Park like never before. This year he was shockingly poor as well. What Disaster saw in him - nobody else saw. Statements like "no sign of creating space or strong carries, things Frans has been doing against the best for years" has been absent from the Steyn repertoire since 2012 and I mean totally absent. Mozart's excuse is different - he claims that for some reason or another Steyn scares the wits out of opponents, so he does not need to carry balls, defend or do anything else normally associated with performance - his presence is enough.
If he was to be listed at center in my book the paceless Steyn would end up at 12 behind De Allende, De Villiers, Serfontein, Vorster, Venter and Odendaal. If De Villiers is out then he is moving up one position in that list. The day Steyn comes into the picture, Meyer can write off the backline as a performing unit.

The Sharks were never down to 10 men and Steyn's role in that game was not crucial at all - Slade scored a try with Steyn making no attempt to tackle him - that is a fact as well. In fact the game was won by Reinach and Jordaan (who had a key role in scoring of the last try). That kind of statement is standard Mozart BS of course.
His "strong point is hand-to-hand combat" - whatever that may mean. De Allende is accused of poor defense - Steyn's defense was worse. His line breaks and defenders beaten was minimal to the point of non-existence - as it was in 2014. So what that phase (hand-to-hand combat) in fact means only the writer would know.
This kind of written garbage is meaningless on the field of play - where performance is a requirement - and performance is what is missing from Steyn.
Danie Gerber was a brilliant 13 ... best in the world ... however that was then ... I seriously doubt he'll be as effective today if given the Protea 13 jersey.
Fat Fransie had an incredible year in 2007 ... a revelation to us all ... filling Jean's boots wasn't an easy task yet he did it beautifully ... at 12 not 15 ... that was then ... he hasn't shown that kind of form since ... not once ... not even close.
We are in the year 2015 now ... that's nearly a decade later ... and you ignorant fools want to bring this pathetic excuse of a rugby player back into the Protea mix???
All this based on what he produced a decade ago?
Have you lost your mind??
Draad ... so you want to play an old, out of shape Du Preez at 9 and bring Fat Fransie in at 15, right?
Clueless ... completely clueless.
What next ... Gurthro as the Proteas starting loosehead.
Try to catch a wake up will ya??
And what pray tell has Fat Fransie produced in the last 2 years that warrants selection?
He was chalked up as the one single player who gave more possession away in contact than anyone else ... does that qualify him for Protea selection?
He played for the Barbarians a few years back and in an attempt to become the hero he duffed a drop kick from his own 10 yard line so badly that he dug a divet out of the pitch as though he was using a wedge for his approach shot to the green.
Does that qualify him for Protea selection?
I have seen him throw a quick lineout ball directly to Kevin Mealamu in the dying seconds of a test match only for Mealamu to go over and score under the posts.
Does that qualify him for Protea selection?
If so ... then you my fooli sh little friend are welcome to him.
Sebastien ... do me a favour and go save your hypocritical lecture for someone who's interested in what you have to say.
Thanks!!
Not a tough guy at all ... just tired of your holy joe, self righteous horseshyte.
You seriously think you can come aboard here and give us lectures on how to behave, how to speak, what to say ...
Hmmmm??
Who appointed you??
In the mean time back at the ranch ... what is it that you're getting up to Sebastien?
Did you get drunk over the weekend and slap your wife about?
Did you meet a man and go back to his place for a little discreet one on one?
Huh?
Yet when Sunday comes you're voice can be heard above all the others, shouting out your amens and hallelujahs.
Do me a favour ... just shut your pie hole before I shut it for you ... Kapeesh??
