Jantjies lacks composure and mental toughness. If anybody wonders what these qualities look like watch Novak Djokovic.Coleman looks to be a bit nervy as well. Cat has amazing BMT but lacks attacking flair.Our only two flyhalf options really are Pollard and Lambie? Dont know how Goosen is going. Joe Pietersen has done well for the Cheethas.

mozzy & brother beeno still talking crazy i see, lolz,
ur biased is evidence by ur willingness to judge janties based on his last game.
janties is south africas form flyhalf period, hes also the form flyhalf of the spXV IMO, or more accurately tied with lima sopoaga as the comps form flyhalf.
IMO the role of flyhalf for the Boks RWC squad should consist of pollard, lambie and janties.
its not a coincidence that the lions and janties are both having their best super rugby season ever,

@mozzy,
"Uziwaku obviously missed Jantjies' three missed kicks under pressure last week."
u mean the three missed kicks in the game the lions won???
nah i didnt miss those buddy. but for u to condemn the lad as if those goal kicking performances are the total sum of his parts show ur lack of understanding of janties game as a whole and the attacking weapons he can add to the Boks woeful backline.
but if goalkicking is the only barometer which u hold good flyhalfs by (talk about saffa stereotypes, ), then dont forget these little beauties from janties last 5 mtches before that waratahs match,,,
vs cheetahs 8 from 8
vs brumbies 2 from 3
vs highlanders 4 from 5
vs bulls 7 from 8
vs cheetahs 6 from 6
and checkmate,

@mozzy,
"Performance under pressure was the question and we have our answer. Game, set and match."
only someone as clueless as u would bring a tennis racquet to a chess match, LMFAO,
boom boom
"It's not as important as goal kicking under pressure....and with a playoff spot in the balance he has missed 4 of his last 5."
so with a playoff spot up for grabs, a janties led lions outfit dosent lose any of its last two matches, and u blame him for what exactly???
my point being they didnt lose mr cup half empty.
one wonders how the lions who are historically the worst super rugby team ever even got into a position to fight for a finals spot, mmmm hmmm.
FYI on behlaf of all true lion supporters, thank u janties,
now put the tennis rackquet away, u dont need it to knock ur king over,

It's as I said a while ago, this whole scenario is Goosen II. Jantjies merely played his part in a system that was very well crafted for and emphasized running.

I expressed reservations about Jantjies temperament before - he folds under pressure and that remains a problem. He does not have the temperament to play for the Springboks in internationals. That is the long and the short of it - even though Dave would go crazy about the latter statement.

The Alpha-Gimp Dense will just repeat whatever his master Moffie says. He has even less rugby credibility than LeTwat/Dim Sum . . . which barely seems possible!

At the point he missed 4 of his last 5 kicks....it started towards the end of the last match and continued throughout the Stormers game. He also missed three of his nine tackle attempts and made some very dubious passes. He was a deer in the headlights again.

Bullshit, his passing was spot on name a single poor pass.....he was good, the best of the SA 10's on display on the weekend by some distance

I will give you the time...but if you watched the game, it was noted by the commentator.

Kickers have off days but their action game can be sound...I was only 2 bricks and a penny high when the great All Black fullback captain, Don Clarke missed virtually all his kicks way back in the sixties against Natal bar 2...the result was AB 6, Natal 0.
I agree with Mike, Silky Hands has incredible skills but lacks big match temparament to date...he has still to prove this, nevertheless I don't write him off...he has had quite a few set backs but is still young enough to prove it.

And then you get kickers like Neil Jenkins of Wales and Jannie De Beer who were dead eye but very average in the all round game. I say, don't judge Elton by an off day or two....kicking can practised and mastered by getting confidence back with dedicated practice.

It's not just goal kicking...it was passing and tactical kicking as well. And Dave the Cat dismissed Jantjies in the first few minutes of the game. ...ran right into and through him.
08 Jun 2015, 21:29#25
Skinstad was talking about Jantjies inconsistencies being a trademark of his career and what has held him back and I agree. I like the kid and love his attacking flair, but he's not enough of a total package ..... yet. Still young.
