I am actually relieved. Plum is a good solid coach and if Goosen comes, I'm hopefull that some of the youngsters will still get game time without being thrown into the deep end. It would have been a disaster if they signed a more established 10.

I agree with you Draad. I know as a Sharks supporter I'd take John Plumtree back in a heartbeat and Johan Goosen may not have fulfilled his talent yet but only a fool or a rugby noob could fail to recognize that talent.

Moz, I didn't know there were coaching vacancies in NZ while he was available. Most NZders probably see him more as a SAffa than a local anyway. I won't say anyone is ecstatic about the possibility of him coming to CT, but it could have been worse. It is most probably a short term solution anyway. One year with the opportunity to extend with another year if all goes well. WP has been backing their structures in recent years, and I'm sure that Dobson and some of the other juniors are destined for bigger things, with Gert monitoring/mentoring closely.As for Goosen? Must be better than the cooler-box and we need more depth at 10.

This is great news, as long as they give him a proper backline coach then they have the coaching team to possibly win the Super 16 or whatever it is!

Once again you have to wonder just how much rugby Baboon-ou watches and ask yourself why this drooling half-wit even bothers hanging around a rugby message board.
Baboon-ou, to answer your question, no, the Sharks cannot make the playoffs this year. It may take another season or two to rid the team of the Joke White poison but we'll be back . . . and we'll continue the tradition of making the Hapless Stompies our squealing little Bunnies this weekend.

Draad Plumtree had a long tenure at the Sharks with some of the country's best talent...he never matched maligned Heineke and by the time he left the trend was dropping like a stone. We can do better.

Apparently Plum turned it down. Wanted a four year deal, wasn't sure if Small was going to stay past the next two years and worried about the Stormers resources to match the tahs and chiefs.
Sounds like a guy who's been burnt.
Wonder if Mallet would be tempted to get off his kiester and prove he's still relevant and has it. That commentary box can get pretty comfy.
No thank you on Goosen.

It's bad news all round.
Goosen is talented but is too much of a injury prone and lacks composure. I see Goosen more as a fullback where he can play to his abilities, nonetheless we don't need him.
Brandon Thomson is the WP/Stormers fly half who should be on the forefront in next seasons, he has the skills in his game to emulate Pollard from what I've seen in JWC. Thomson is a gifted fly half who would be a great asset to the Stormers.
