Totally agree ... JJ has completed his transformation from wing to center.

There is absolute no more room for improvement there.

He has managed to learn absolutely nothing from the centers around him and remains as probably the worst option for the 13 jersey in any team. He is a chump second to none.

If I were forced to pick between De Jongh and JJ, my selection would, without a second thought be De Jongh. He at least contributes to the team, whereas JJ might as well have been left back in the change room.

A little birdie told me the other day that JJ's team mates have accepted him as a liability and that they're all aware of the need to up their work rate by 10% to cover for his incompetence.

This birdie is a reliable source of inside info.

Saffex, why do you talk shit about centres "imposing" themselves in traffic and being physical then you mention playing JJ!! You make us think of players like Jamie Roberts and Pat McCabe and then you mention JJ. He is the exact opposite of a centre who imposes himself. He is useless.
It is a no brainer between him and De Jongh. Neither is the answer but De Jongh is a lot better option.
Cant believe Jordaan doesn't get a look in. What has JJ done all year?? JJ is just there. He is not good, he is not bad..He is just there!! How does that much average make a bok team. At least De Jongh and Jordaan have people speaking about them! JJ is not worth debating anymore. He should not come into the picture. Hopefully Sithole will play because we cant afford another year of JJ!
Sithole, Mapoe, De Jongh, De Allende...All better players than JJ.

Look here CHICKEN shit.......JJ weighs 95kg.......with that mass a centre is able to impose himself if need be......its that simple.

Loved your take on Mtembu holding the FOUGHT though......bwhaaahaaaa.......let me guess it was your attempt at a PUN!!!!

Clown, I hope you are not expecting a response from me - I struggle to take anything you have to say on rugby seriously.......sorry beefcake

Nah Dave..I cant remember that Mtembu comment but if I did say fought it was a typo..Meant fort..You see, I can admit when I am wrong..Why cant you do the same..It will take you a while though but you can start by admitting Jj and Jantjies have been flops..
Dave, I dont give a shit about size...Just because he is 95kg's does not make him less of a pussy or any stronger than a guy of 89kgs! He may be taller or hold more bodyfat..It means nothing in strength and what I am saying is JJ has never imposed himself on defences so his weight might as well be 200kgs and lightning fast...You can quote his weigh and how many hairs he has on his legs but fact remains, he is not a better player..Not at any facet of play!
His 95kg's certainly imposed itself on Bosch and Barrett didnt it??

Geez you are thick, what the hell does imposing himself have to do with Barrett and Bosch you idiot.......you work it out......I'll give you a clue.......Jannie, Jean and Morne!!!

The less you say, Stupid ... the better.

You keep wanting to play outside backs at 13 and this at international level.

Don't tell me you think we're to take what you have to say seriously ... surely??

Any team selection on this site always ends up with who should be 13 and who should be 10 with the other controversial selections iro of 3, 5 and 7.
Lets look at what Meyer has said and done over the past two years and see whether his remarks ends up in line with what he actually does in selections:-
No 13
Meyer never said a word about the 13 position -  but quietly changed the selection from JJ to Fourie in the EOYT.   Meyer has a record of always favouring Blue Bulls players and one would assume that the problem related to defense and missing of crucial tackles by JJ - while his attacking record did not impress either.
Be it as it may - Fourie - slow as a carthorse and useless in attacking play - is the current 13 of the Springboks.  Fourie was lucky - in the Welsh test he came up against Davies and the latter run past him as if he was not there on two occasions and was then injured.   Luckily enough those two incidents did not result in tries.  After Davies's injury he did not miss tackles - so he was praised to high heaven for his defense efforts in the test.   In the Scottish test Fourie did squat and he went n to play against Bausteraud in the French test.   The only difference between Fourie and Bausteraud is that in their race against the props as to who is the slowest player on the field - Bausteraud is the favourite to win that race.
Fourie is obviously not the answer and he is injured in any event.  Saffex keep on pointing out that JJ's defense this year improved - but he still brings near to zero to attacking play.   He has a tendency to run straight at his opponent and be brought down with relative ease is evidenced by his consequential inability to make line breaks or make any real progress in attack - he also seems to be unable to off-load balls in tackle situations and his real attacking abilities are near to zero.
Who should be at 13?   Mozart has a love affair with De Jongh and pointed out that he is supreme in attack.   But is he? Is he not using the space he is put into by other players?   Is he good enough in defense?   Judged on his performance in the EOYT tests in 2012 he definitely was out of depth on higher level and he is a real efense liability while bringing virtually nothing to attacking play unless put into space by other players by players around him.
So - who is the answer in this case.   Engeelbrecht is really suspect and De Jongh is really not suitable.   That leaves us with a hole in that psotition and I think Meyer would nevertheless go with JJ - after all he plays for the Bulls.   The only real alternative would be De Allende - but would Meyer make that decision?  I doubt it very much.
No 10
The out and out favourite of Meyer has always been Morne Steyn.   In 2012 Meyer was nearly in tears when Morne's goal kicking deserted him in 2012 and he had to make a change to the team.   His second choice - Goosen was injured and and Morne came back in 2013.  Morne was always Morne - a robotic flyhalf who mixed up when to kick and when to pass balls and had to be told in advance what to do - a robotic player who makes aimless kicks in droves.
However,  Morne went to Stade Francais and there he flopped badly - lets be honest about it.   He had comparatively little game time for the Club and was mostly bench-warming.   Is a bench player good enough to be a starting player for the Springboks? I think not - but Meyer is likely to pick him despite his poor Stade Francais record.
Mozart is gong into hysterics about Francois Steyn as flyhalf option.  He did have some positives - bearing in mind -
*   his only line break against the Crusaders which let to the sithole try; and*   his 70% success rate in kicking at goal.
The rest of his game was really putrid and showed a total inability to understand when to kick and when not to (in other words a seriously defective reading of the game), his numerous aimless kicks and his relatively poor defense with amissed tackle ratio of near to 40% at flyhalf.
I guess Meyer would choose Morne - with Goosen second in line in this case.  Francois is just to big a liability. No 3
Meyer's first choice prop has always been Jannie du Plessis - his second choice was Malherbe.   In the Welsh test last year he picked Malherbe ahead of Coenie who were on the bench.  When Malherbe was injured in the Scottish test he went to Coenie.
Du Plessis was poor this year - his main attribute was giving away penalties - largely to ensure his scrumming reputation through illegal scrumming.  Du Plessis is over 30 yars of age and becoming a liability rather than an asset.
Coenie had a recurrence of his neck injury problem and was now out for more than a month.   After his return his scrumming was not up to standard - it may be psychological - but it still needs to improve.  His work rate outside scrumming is tops.
The new kid on the block is Marcel van der Merwe.  He normally did not start for the Bulls this year and in only two starting games he did very well - both in scrumming and outside of the scrum.  I think he may need further experience to prove himself and he is - despite his Blue Bulls jersey - not likely to come into the picture as yet.
My own impression is that Meyer may go with Malherbe in the 7 June test and put Coenie on the bench.
No 5
In one of his comments Meyer said of Du Toit that he is not physical enough to play at 5 yet.   However, Matfield - an even less physical player - is his favourite from way back.  I would not be at all surprised if Meyer picks him at 5 for the 7 June test - but the man is 37 already and there are a  number of more physical an harder working locks in SA.  There are Flippie, De Jager and Willemse - to name just a few.
The Blue Bulls one weapon - the driving maul was a mess this year because of Matfield non-contribution to that facet of play and I think that it would destroy that aspect of the game of the Springboks as well if Matfield is a passenger selection because he can call line outs.
No 7
The present incumbent is Alberts - a favourite of Meyer despite his poor defense record and low work rate.   He keeps standing behind mauls and compete with Matfield in standing behind same.   JHe undertakes no ball protection and is unable to recover balls in breakdown situations.
I think Meyer would be inclined to go with Burger - but his injury record is not convincing and I doubt very much whether he could last through a season.
CONCLUSION
Based on Meyer;s selections of the past - and his tendency to ignore proven performance in team selection - I personally think his selections for the 7 June 2014 test will be the following:-
15  Willie le Roux14  JP Pietersen13  Jean de Villiers12  Francois Steyn11  Bryan Habana10  Morne Steyn  9  Fourie du Preez  8  Dyuane Vemeulen  7  Schalk Burger  6  Francois Louw  5  Victor Matfield  4  Eben Etzebeth  3  Jannie du Plessis  2  Bismarck du Plessis  1  Tendai Mtatawarire
All in all a number of illogical and poor selections will be obvious - so lets wait and see what happens.  There really is no future with that teams election - biund to fai l in the RC and a definite no-no in the WC.

It was the same kind of typo the AB manager Darren Shand made when he wrote Mealamu instead of Coles on the team sheet ;-)
No arsehole, I was meant to write fort but wrote fought. Can you see how how both words are pronounced the same. I just wasn't concentrating when I typed it out. Is it a massive crime?
Thanks for the clue Dave but the only clue I needed to see was Barrett bouncing out of JJ's "imposing" clutches!

Let me just correct you Dave...Yes, he plays 13 for Bulls and Boks but he has flopped at both...Does not make him any less a more natural outside back than a centre...It just means our coaches are making a big error in his selection..He was dropped for a real 13 EOYT though!

Wasn't Jaco Taute also one you fancied at 13?

Didn't you have a lot to say about how brilliant he was there?

Hmmmm???

See what I mean?

You have no clue what is needed to make a successful rugby team.

Not a clue!!!!!!

Accept it!

Why does this surprise you Dave?? You dont need to remind anyone of Clown's take on rugby and his stupidity..He reinforces this himself in each post. He has purely been sent here to annoy everyone. I am sure of this as he surely can not be so mistaken that he thinks he knows about rugby. Volmink on the wing...Fuck sakes what a wanker.
Anyway Dave, JJ is a flop. Will you agree with me on that? He has done nothing of note ever! We are in a bit of a 13 crisis and we had to try something. It didnt work..Lets move on!
