Tries from Rob Kearney and Conor Murray helped the Irish to a 24-9 win at Millennium Stadium, but they a number of major injuries, including Sexton, who limped off in the first half.

While the initial signs weren't good, Sexton is confident that he'll be ready, especially with Ireland getting an extra day to prepare following their victory.

"I hope I'll be fine but I'm going to get a scan to check," he said after the game.

"It was a very hard match. We had a lot of luck for the first half-hour but after that I was in the changing rooms so didn't see the rest.

"Now we have seven days until the next game, and we know it will be more difficult for France because they've only got six days. It's an extra day for us which is very important after a match like that with a lot of injuries. It was a very hard game."

Ireland & Japan come to mind when I think of teams that showed fighting spirit & determination. But then we have Wales & OZ (defence); Samoa in their last game... so there have been a lot of really good games to watch. Plenty of drama & blood and guts. I hope the quarter finals will show is some skill & polish also.
