The Sharks were too strong for the Stormers second-string side as they ran out 34-12 winners in a fitting send-off for some departing Sharks players. There wasn't much to play for either side in a dead-rubber game at Kings Park but both sides gave it a full go early on. Kurt Coleman opened proceedings with a penalty to hand the Stormers a lead. After ten minutes the Sharks were dealt an early blow when centre Andre Esterhuizen was shown a Yellow Card for a dangerous tackle on flank Michael Rhodes. Odwa Ndungane capitalised on a loose pass from the Stormers as he chipped it forward twice and Lionel Cronje was present to pounce on the ball over the line for a try. Coleman quickly reclaimed the lead for the Stormers through a penalty from 35 metres out, and added another three points from the boot after 35 minutes. Cronje narrowed the deficit to one point three minutes before half-time with a penalty kick. Moments later Stefan Ungerer forced his way over the Stormers try-line from a ruck to hand the Sharks 13-9 lead at half-time. The second-half began slowly as both teams lacked any spark and errors were plentiful. Coleman continued to strike well from the boot and he converted his fourth penalty of the game. Bismarck du Plessis finished off a skillful play for the Sharks to score a try in his last game in black and white. Cronje converted as the Sharks took a 20-12 lead. With 15 minutes to go Lwazi Mvovo latched on to a well-weighted Cronje grubber kick and ran over to score the Sharks' bonus-point try and hand the home-side a healthy lead. Stormers were reduced to 14 men for the remainder of the game when Robert du Preez was sin-binned for a dangerous tackle and the Sharks capitalised on the advantage as Sithole made a break and drew the last defender to put Ndungane away for a try which sealed the Stormers fait. The game ended 34-12 as the final score and the Du Plessis brothers and Willem Alberts were sent-off on a high from Kings Park. More to follow... Man of the match: For the Stormers Michael Willemse debuted like a champion and Nizaam Carr had a strong game. Lionel Cronje had a good day with the boot and Ndungane was prominent on attack. However the award goes to none other than Sharks legend Bismark du Plessis for a courageous effort topped off with a try.
