There are only two options. Willie and kriel.
Wee Kolbe should move to scrummie where he could have an international future.Beeno and Mallet again on the same page.
Lets hope Meyer eschews microlights - they have little place at the top level.Kolbe disappeared against top backlines in the Super 15.
I do wish the oaks lacking in rugby acumen would ccease their chatter about the Stormers backline performance against the sieve like defence of the Cheetas.
Beeno keeping it real as always.

I picked Jesse Kriel in my Bok team earlier today but I was very close to picking Cheslin Kolbe instead. I 'd be happy with either one but I suspect it will be the off-form poser Willie le Roux who gets the nod.

Probably the easiest selection of all the players to make. Willie without doubt would be the first name on my Bok teamsheet.
Our best back by some distance.....a truly world class player.
But saying that the very impressive Jessie Kriel would start on the wing in my side.

"Off form poser" now there's a laugh. How a player can be off form when he is injured beats me. No player has done more to put bite in our backplay, but Jalapeño thinks Willie is a poser. Why? Because he enjoys the game and has teensy weensy bit of swagger?

I admire your viewpoints on players and realize that you always concentrate on performance rather than the sickness of relying only on experience and reputation.
However, I have been watching Le Roux carefully and despite the fact that he played for probably the poorest SA team in Super 15 - he was influential in the scoring of more tries by that franchise compared to any other franchises in South Africa. Most of the tries scored by that team's backline before his injury was directly linked to his involvement in attacking moves. For that reason I take the downplaying of his role in the team and his performances as somewhat superficial.
I like what i have seen of Kolbe in attack - but I unfortunately does not like what I see of him in defense. He is physically too small to be really an effective defender - especially in an era where big players with skills is the norm in virtually all teams. Kolbe makes some good tackles, but he also gets run over by opponents fat too often.
Opposing teams in the modern era study a player - both his positives and negatives - and then devise means to counter his strengths and exploit his weaknesses. Unfortunately they would use his small frame as a means to do both and he would ultimately have a few good runs and get nowhere. In recent games he tried to run at the opposition when collecting kicks and got swamped by defenders every time - no more the free-wheeling noticeable in earlier matches.
I personally think that he would fit in better at scrummie - where he would be anytime as good as Faf de Klerk. He has the vision and speed to be an excellent scrummie - a position where his lack of physicality would not hamper him at all. At full back I believe he would always have a problem.
I still think the best option for full back is Willie le Roux, since I do not think that any of the other full backs have really made a strong enough statement to unseat him.

Kolbe is fantastic in contact, a tad better than DA at times. But back to Willie, yes, he is a very important player in the Bok setup. I wouldn't go so far as to say he is the first name on the team sheet, but he is in the core group of players.

Willie dazzled us for a spell. That I'm afraid was short lived. Nothig special about him if you ask me.
Meyer needs to rethink this selection.
Kolbe is an awesome player however just too small. We need a solid defender at 15 which he is not.
Not the biggest fan of Kriel. He wouldn't make my Bok squad.
Meyer will select Willie ... we all know that ...

Andries Coetzee wouldn't be a bad option as well, he knows when to kick and when not to which is good to see, his form is not bad. If Kolbe can't make a step up Andries would be the player to go with in my book for sure.
Jesse Kriel is a fantastic outside centre as seen in JWC but I've never rated him as a great fullback, he doesn't have a good understanding of how the game should be played at fullback much like Le Roux.
Le Roux can play superb on the wing, where he is more composed.

Well Saffex, DA was going to be dumped a small Cheetah back last on one of the rare occasions he punched it up. He can't handle head on pressure which is why Kolbe, de Jongh and Kolisi are doing the hard work to give DA the space he wants. The contact he dominates is run close to the defender, but on the weak shoulder side where they have to turn in and take up a weakened body position but he is too close for a low lateral tackle. Kolbe has yet to be dumped in any video I have seen so far, except for Frans smashing him into touch. Certainly he has yet to be run over or run through, DA has. It's quite simple really. But clearly your reading of the game is no better than Michaels, either that or you are lying as profusely as him.

One has to wonder about the fake stories you spin on this site making out that what you write is factual. Kolbe and De Jongh doing the hard work to give De Allende space - when did that happen? When De Jongh is tackled there is no forward movement - rather straight down or even going backwards movement - and frequently enough he loses ball possession in the process. He is normally tackled by only ONE player and that spells the end of any move by him. Kolbe goes straight down in tackles and at times backwards - better than De Jongh - but still not good enough.
De Allende is the one who creates space - who smash through tackles and made Steyn looks silly and who goes forward in tackles while 2 or 3 opponents try to tackle him. He is rarely tackled by one player without help from others.
Every commentator and analyst says De Allende is amazingly strong and the fact that he has the highest number of tackles beaten in Super 15 is more than enough proof of that. It is only you who says otherwise - and that based on a vast amount of verbal diarrhea through fairy tales.
If you ask any opposing 12 in Super 15 who would he rather meet in games - De Allende or Steyn - the answer would inevitably be Steyn. De Alende is just too difficult a player to oppose - Steyn may have done well in the earlier part of his career - but since his return from France his performances have been in constant decline.
