WP so long the region exporting talent to prop up the Bulle and wee guppies could see 3 Boks making their way to Cape Town. Ex Sport 24

Cape Town - Western Province reportedly have their sights set on luring Springboks Marcell Coetzee, Cornal Hendricks and Pieter-Steph du Toit to Cape Town.

This follows after news broke on Wednesday that the Capetonians were also interested in luring Springbok flyhalf Johan Goosen to the Mother City.

According to Netwerk24, WP are particularly keen to attain the services of flank Coetzee from the Sharks, while several other local unions are also believed to be interested in signing Hendricks.

Sharks lock Du Toit recently indicated that he would like to repay the faith his union had shown him through his periods sidelined with injuries, but he was schooled in the Western Cape and his family lives there, which makes a move back to the region an appealing one.

Argentine lock Manuel Carizza is believed to be heading to Racing Metro in France, which makes WP’s interest in signing another top lock understandable.

All nice signings so here is hoping. Du Toit belongs here.

Yes, nice possible signings but #1 priority for WP is a flyhalf. Goosen has about as much grit as a seals backside.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Boshoff or Potgieter there next year.

Matey, there are some nice young 10's coming through the ranks. We need a stop gap for a year or 2. If Goosen can stay fit, he might just do the trick. I won't mind Boshoff, but what Potgieter are you talking about?

Jacques-Louie.
Both he and Boshoff are clear second fiddle's but have flashed enough ability that WP may be interested in them as those stop gap solutions.
Just a hunch, but I don't see Goosen as a Smal type.

JLP...solid enough, but I'd rather play  JLdP. Seriously, Affies boys don't fit in in CT most of the time. I know WP laaities has made Pretoria their home with success in recent times, but thoroughbred BB's just detest WP too much to play here with passion. ...I'd give it a pass.

We will need a fit Elstadt and Marcell will be a big boost. Maybe Smal can teach him to off load etc.Kebble, Bongi or perhaps a better hooker, Malherbe, Etzebeth, Du Toit, Marcell, Vermuelen and Elstadt. Whew that would be some pack.We desparately need a backline coach who understands the fundamentals. Perhaps Fleckie freed of Coetzee's selctions and intereference will show us what he can do? Otherwise we need a top class backline coach.
Goosen you are most welcome here.  T hompson will be a nice addition.

Marcel Coetzee is not my choice for the Boks, in my view he lacks a top gear.....but he is a hell of a franchize player in the S15.  I can't see why you would risk your funds on an injury prone player like Stephanie.....nor Hendricks, whose defence last week was pathetic.

H endricks is in a weak defensive set up. Perhaps playing here that deficiency wont be as pronounced.

Hendricks defense is a problem. Folau left him flat footed last week. But for that aspect (and his inability under the high ball) , he would be a shoo-in for the Boks, regardless of quota requirements, as he is probably the best finisher we have and can beat a defender one-up a good percentage of the time.

I agree Hendricks has major strengths & that he has major short-comings. He needs good coaching to realize his potential.
