You can see how the conference system made sure that SA and Oz had teams go through even if their records are weaker than kiwi teams. All this bleating about the refs by a certain member of this forum was just a smoke screen as in the end - even if true - it didn't matter.

I have a similar feeling about the Super 15 play-offs and final stages. I wrote about that in a separate item already. If the Hurricanes survive in a semi and there is a Hurricanes - Stormers final, thy would be bullied up front like it is unbelievable and without a referee like Hoffman to assist them - they are going to lose in the final.
However, if Saturdays game is anything to go by they are going to lose in the semi if they face any of the two NZ teams - the Chiefs or the Highlanders. The same applies if the Stormers comes up against either of the Waratahs or the Brumbies in Cape Town. Both are going to have two successive difficult games and having to travel to Cape Town is not going to make their lives any easier.
I do believe the crunch game that will decide the Super 15 final stages venues is the game between the Stormers and the Lions on Saturday. If the Stormers win the venue issue for the play-offs will be settled and that would also have an impact on eventual outcomes in the play-offs.
