Play to the Boks strengths.......dominate the collisions and win the physical battles up front......cant go wrong here with the likes of Kitshoff, Bismark, Malherbe, Marcel, Coenie, Etzebeth, Willemse, PSDT, Coetzee, Jacques du Plessis and Vermeulen on board.
Forward power where dominance in the scrums, rolling mauls is a prerequisite for laying a platform for the backs.....empower the backs to play what's in front of them.....players should be encouraged to attack space not contact......we have sublime attacking talents in Hougaard, Faf, Pollard, Jantjies, Serfontein, de Allende, Vorster, Senatla, Jessie Kriel and Willie.
The model I would encourage is the one played by the Lions, Chiefs, Tahs and Canes......these sides look to keep the ball alive....where an attacking mindset prevails, not the conservative kicking games we see under Meyer and the likes.
The game is won with ball in hand, not where kicking away possession is the primary mindset.
Am I advocating all out attack......no I am not......there is place for tactical kicking with a view to gaining territory, but kicking should always feature as secondary with attacking being the primary goal.
Dominate the physical battles, keep the ball alive, attack space.......empower players to trust their strengths and skill set , don't program them into crashing it up and seeking contact all the time. Players should be encouraged to seek great running lines, use the step to beat the man, fleet of foot instead of straight over the top......of primary importance is the offload, keeping the ball alive, putting better placed players into space.
Its about striking a balance between structured play and having the free spirit to attack when the opportunity presents itself and more than anything seek to create that opportunity with self belief.
