Do you honestly believe the mighty Josh is not able to tackle WP Nel.......hell your hero Schalk got slapped by wee Lambie........and now we have it on your authority that Strauss cant tackle and is too slow. Josh is a better rugby player than Schalk and if Meyer has any sense we will see this lad in the Bok fold. He was awesome last year and is too good not to continue in that vain.......its just a pity the lad does not play in a good side, for imagine how much he would shine in the company of the Bulls, Sharks or Stormers.

Um last I checked Spies was the Bok incumbent at 8, Flip will be the incumbent at 4 now that Bakkies has gone. Good chance Mvovo will replace Habana on the wing. CJ was the incumbent 3 for many years.......I have never ever had the likes of Olivier, Greyling, Ludik or Werner Kruger as starting Boks.......I have said they were good players and stand by that. Take Watsons off the field antics out of the equation and that loser of a coach in Jake and Luke would have played many tests. You seem to confuse my list of players with starting Boks. Of your list only Spies has been a starting Bok in my sides, the rest have made the bench or been in my A sides - FACT. Never has Olivier made my side ahead of Jean, Kirchner and Ludik have never been ahead of Frans or Lambie, Flip has never been ahead of Bakkies, Watson I would have played ahead of Schalk at 6 as Schalk is no 6, never has Mvovo been in my side ahead of JP or Habana, Greyling ahead of Beast or Steenkamp, CJ used to be my starter and rightly so, he was certainly better than your sad excuse of a tighthead in weeee BJ and W.Kruger has never made my side ahead of CJ, Mujati or Jannie.......see Moz you seem a little confused but always happy to put you right old chap!!
As for Josh Strauss, I am going on record and saying he will be a Bok starter as he is that good. He makes my side ahead of Schalk
Dave, you fall so easily for the hype every year. Like Mozart has stated the list is vast of next big things that never amounted to anything. Strauss has done nothing. And please note that Watson played 10 tests and failed in all of them. Nobody to blame for that, just his lack of quality. I doubt Meyer is a man to pick Strauss. Meyer likes substance.
Are all those players on my lists starting Boks........last I checked only 15 could start a game - you old boys need a reality check.

My confidence in Flip has diminished as times goes by. Our lock candidates are Bekker, Mostert, Juandre, Elstadt and Etzebeth. Flip may make it if injuries play a role. Flip lacks a good head? Anyhow he has once again the Super 15 to correct any mistaken impressions.
It should be obvious that Juandre could make a great number 7 - Elstadt as well.

Flip is simply very ordinary. Another player who was anointed, in this case as the Bakkies replacement, without ever playing a big role in a key game. The Bools instinctively recognized this last year when they played Rossouw in their final run for the S15 and left Flip Flop on the bench.
Flip outplayed both Bakkies and Roussouw in the 2010 Super XV. He has had his moments at test level, but has been no less effective thab Bekker overall. Though Bekker has lacked Flip's occasional highs.
What Flip Flop highs? Like the high when he let Genia slip through his fingers to gift a test....or that other test against Oz where he gave away the vital penalty. Bekker can make a real impact at test level, has done and will do if he stays healthy. Flip Flop never will.....he is bog ordinary.
How was that Bekker penalty that would've drawn the second Lions test? Many others too. Bekker is useless, has been useless, will only ever be useless and the only other alternative is injured. Anything contrary to this is an extraordinary anomoly.
Moz are there any players in SA that you are positive about. Bloody hell Flip has been great for the Bulls and damn solid for the Boks until he got injured last season. He is not Bakkies, no player will ever be a match for Bakkies as Bakkies carried that very hard edge. Flip is by far the closest we have to Bakkies and puts in the hard yards. He is anything but a flop and Meyer will have him in the picture as Bakkies replacement and rightly so.
As for Aristokrats take on Bekker, that is even worse than your take on Flip (Bekker was the best lock in the game last season) - you are both completely wrong - both Flip and Bekker are worthy, but hell they are going to have to be on their toes as there are a string of great young locks coming through in Jeandre Kruger, Etzebeth, Elstadt, Quin Roux, Steph du Toit, JA Marais, Jacques du Plessis, Greeff, Bullbring, Roodt, Bresler and Paul Willemse
Yes Dave, there are new players I like. I was always positive about Lambie, Fransie and Hougaard. As far as tests prospects go, currently I'm positive about Jeandre Kruger, Goosen, Jantjies Etzebeth....and.....that's about it for newbies. My lists tend to be shorter than yours Dave, but aiming to pinpoint the 5% that succeed, and not waste time on guys who wont make it.
Bekker was outclassed last year; in the prior year, yes he was the best 5 in Super rugby. At no point though has it ever been the case that he has excelled at test level. Another myth, another useless reputation from the Cape.
Dave how mobile is Quin Roux - the youngster is what - 125kg? Never seen him play
