The next Bok captain

As we head towards the end of the world cup and the end of an era for many of the old guard, who are the candidates for the next Bok captain? Vermeulen would be a good short term option, but will he be the same player in four years time? I doubt it! Schalk is playing very well at the moment, but at his age and the way he puts his body on the line , there is no way he'll be around for the next WC! Same story for all the old players, Habana, Pietersen, Du Preez, Bizzie, are all in the same boat! I think we should invest in a young sure thing, and for me that is Pollard. I guess Etzebeth could also work, but he doesn't strike me as a leader. I guess Strauss is the another option, but he is already getting on a little, and it won't be long before there is some youngster kicking down his door, and all we need is another Jobn Smit situation! 
Pollard is the man! And should be brought in as soon as possible!

 Nope. I would prefer Eben to Polly, but neither works for me. Duane for the next 2 years while identifying the successor...not ideal with him playing abroad...no real standout candidate really. Worrying actually. Strauss is a definite no-no. Lood?

One has to identify a young guy who will be a definite starter. Vermeulen would be the short term option but at 29 is a little long in the tooth for long term investment.
Arno Botha and CJ Stander captained the Baby Boks.
Jaco Kriel is an option. 
Not many stand out as options. 
Pollard also captained the Baby Boks dud he not?
Etzebeth a captain....no man.

Jaco Kriel is a good call. Doing great things at the Lions! Should have been at the world cup too! My only worry about having a loosie as captain is the depth we have in the loose! There are so many on the assembly line that we may well land up with a player starting games that is no longer the best in his position.....we don't need that again! Pollard seems to be a straight forward choice with nobody likely to take his place any time soon.

Pollard seems the most sensible candidate at this stage. Many of the players will be history by that time.
Arno Botha the Springbok captain? What a joke. Too small for power play- and not enough brains for skillful play.

 Arno Botha arrives on the match day and is drafted straight back into the Saffex squad as bok captain 

 The problem is that virtually the whole group of senior players will be out of contention for selection to the squad next year.  The only players whom might still play for the Springboks next year may be -
*   Bryan Habana*   JP Pietersen*   Duane Vermeulen*   Bismarck du Plessis *   Adriaan Strauss
None of the above - with the possible exception of Vermeulen would make it through to the next WC and the captaincy will not go to him since he is not playing local rugby in future - a foreign based player will not get the job.
Of the players inside the squad at present the leadership component are limited and the only players who might be considered are not experienced enough to be appointed - this will include Pollard or De Allende.
The other issue is obviously that any captain will have to be selected without reservations as a member of the team itself.   
The option is to look at the captains of the present CC teams and see whether any of them may be candidates.  Of those De Jongh is not a candidate for Springbok selection - there are a number of players better than him playing for the Springboks or qualifying for selection.  Wentzel is out and so is Uys,  the remaining two captains who might qualify is Jaco Kriel of the Lions and Labuschagne of the Bulls.
That would mean that to my mind the future captains ill come out of the following:-
*   Kriel*   Labuschagne*   Pollard*   De Allende
Incidentally - from remarks made by Jones about the Stormers players I think the possible candidate for captaincy of the Stormers is likely to be De Allende - hence my inclusion of him as a potential Springbok captain.                

ou maaaikie with Jea n and Burger around I doubt Allende will captain the Mighty Stormers..

Think of the future and I doubt whether Jean will ever lay fir the Stormers again.  A bit of foreign rugby is all that he will play in future,   Burger is also getting on and may last another at the utmost two years.   At best eh may be an interim captain - but he is also off to Japan as part of the season and may miss the pot as a result thereof.
     

I think Strauss should be the interim skipper with Pollard his deputy.

My vote would be for Jaco Kriel.

that being said i would want to know who would the next bok coach be rather...

Next Bok coach should be Johan Ackerman.

 i do think johan can do the job that being said i do feel the lions is not a finished product yet and might require him at the helm for maybe another 5 odd years.
i do think besides him there is no coach worthy of the post locally and i wont mind seeing a nz coach at the helm....
a nz head coach with a attacking coach mixed with our local coaches might just be the injection we need to get over the conservative mindset we have about the game.

I'd be happy with Ackers as Bok coach but as long as he has Swys de Bruin on board....the brains behind the Lions fortunes by all account.
Imagine Ackers and Swys having ALL our rugby talent at their disposal?
