It is unclear if ISIS had any involvement. They would probably also claim things they do not do.

Isis have claimed responsibility for the assassination of Franz Ferdinand and that the shooter on the grassy knoll was one of their soldiers.  Jokers are losing their relevance and latching on to any tragedy.
Terrible what happened in  Vegas.

ISIS have a history of claiming responsibility for shootings they had nothing at all to do with and then being discredited.

Only the most ignorant, brainwashed and biased fool would try to pin this on ISIS or any other terrorist group with the evidence at hand.

Had ZERO to do with ISIs,just another gun lovin' NRA repug piece of garbage .Just going by the sounds I heard last night I wouldnt mind betting he had an M-60 or Browning 30 cal machine-gun ,especially given the distance and numbers hit.I honestly believe that even if some gun lovin arse went into a maternity hospital and shot a thousand babies ,mothers ,doctors and nurses the NRA would want to make little baby sized guns "for protection " rather than ban ANYTHING .Hell they fought tooth and nail against limiting the size of magazines to 30 rounds rather than 60.Mustnt inconvenience a god fearing republican in the middle of some massacring now eh ?

You can own an actual farking anti-tank gun in Nevada .Even a WW2 German  pak -40 is a killing machine still and a " historic " MG42 is still the most lethal MG ever built ,the Germans still use a modern version .And you can have one of those too you know for "protection "

Looks like Paddock used 2 bump stock devices to convert the rifles from semi-automatic to fully automatic.

Never heard of these things before but it seems they're pretty easy to get hold of if you live in Nevada.

Complete madness.

The murderer doesn't look like a muslim ... but one never knows these days.

Sounds as if he had everything one could want in life ... and yet it wasn't enough.

Tragic.

A bump stock is sorta like a reciprocating sto ck that uses the rifles recoil to fire ' automatically '. Not very accurate but I suppose that doesn't matter when your  firing into a crowd.

23 guns in 10 different bags were found in his hotel room

Thousands of rounds of ammunition, found in his hotel room, and also in his own home.

He smuggled this into his hotel room over the period of a few days

He also had 19 other guns along with explosives in his private residence.

This obviously took some planning

42 guns found  in total.........

DA - it looks like a planned attack - not necessarily by an individual.   It would be difficult to buy the kind of assault weapons used by an individual -especially iof the number of weapons involved is borne in mind.
One supposes that the truth will come out eventually.
Terrible news though.

Guns don't kill people. People with guns kill people. People with cars also kill people. The issue is not the number of guns per US household. The issue is the number of irresponsible people with guns per household. When I grew up in SA most, dare I say, white households also had guns and most boys, even in towns and cities had air rifles. I had one and all mates had as well. Sometimes five or six of us went into the plantation near us and go target shooting. No adult in sight and we were eleven/twelve years old. None of us were ever injured. Nobody aimed at another. Not even with an unloaded gun. We were brought up to be responsible with fire arms. I believe that if that responsibility is instilled from a young age it should lead to responsible adult gun owners in the same way that a culture of responsible drivers is cultivated. Everybody crap themselves when they see images of kids in the US being taught to handle fire arms. I would rathere be around a few of those kids than modern day SA or U.K. kids with fire arms. The problem comes when you have kids running around being macho with firearms. And, yes, I know that this has been and old guy who did this but there was clearly something that made him snap. No sane human being does what he has done. Some people snap and break someone's nose. Some people snap and run someone over with a car. Some people snap and kill someone. Some people snap and go on a killing spree. This is just a case of another person who snapped. Only difference is his reaction to snapping, compared to the next person. Why punish 300m people because one clown's balls up? Maybe I am just too clinical about this but that is my view.

I understand and agree with the right to bear arms and protect one's family.

I also understand that certain people collect weapons as a hobby.

I also understand that a lot of Americans believe that the "war" that they may face one day as civilians may come from within the United States itself, therefore the necessity to arms themselves with enough guns and ammunition in case of any civil unrest or riots etc etc.

The two main arms suppliers in the US had their collective share prices go up by nearly 3%, overnight, since this shooting took place, purely because members of the public ran out to buy guns before any restrictions or stricter laws were implemented, as a result of this mass shooting.

Crazy.......

I don't however understand how one person would want or need 42 different guns, but again, it is a hobby and a sport for millions of people.

However....having said that, I also see no difference with a guy who has 42 different guns, with 200 rounds per gun, or a guy who has one AK-47 with 8400 rounds of ammo.

Something needs to change though, I don't know if it's the culture of guns in the USA, or the casual availability of them to almost anyone, with very few, if any, checks in place.

32 000 gun deaths a year, in any country....  needs some attention

I can understand the protest about gun ownership - but also understand that Americans still have a fascination with crime and gangsterism - there are numerous US TV channels using with crime. murder, etc.
If they ban guns it would only serve to illegal obtaining and even more difficult to control and are they going to ban knives as well?

One has a crime fascination by many in the US and I smell a rat in this case as well.

I don't really like understand where the idea comes from that there is no or little gun and ammo laws in the US. Maybe some posters living over there can help us. As far as I know there are a hell of a lot of laws on gun control in the US. The idea that you can just walk into a store and buy what and as many as you like is not quite accurate. I learned a little about their laws when I was checking the Operation Fast and Furious saga.

Here is a very sobering thought.

There were 6 other mass shootings in the USA in this last week alone, that never made the international news.

A mass shooting is described as "four or more people shot in one incident, not including the shooter"

And the "Gun Violence Archive" states that in the USA alone, there is a mass shooting every 9 out of 10 days... on average.

Now that is crazy

Beeno pinning it on the Muslim community again when the evidence so far tends to point to a rather rich and privileged white guy who became completely unhinged. So much for Tr.ump promising all Americans would be safe under his command. His focus has been totally on building a wall to keep the Mexicans out, stopping all immigrants especially those from eastern countries from entering and patrolling peaceful Muslim communities. They must be secretly asking the question everyone wants to know .....so Mr Prez how do you keep anyone safe with psychos running around the place like Stephen Paddock?

According to the "Guardian.com" website, there have been 1 516 mass shootings... in the last 1 735 days... preceding this Vegas shooting.

One cannot just ignore those crazy numbers.

I wonder if the effervescent Beeno will step upto the plate like an honest human being let alone a Christian and withdraw his allegation laying the blame at the feet of ISIS. I promise not to wonder too far as I know he won't. I believe he'll find it a little too hard to admit that it's a white man who holds the record for the massacre of innocent folks. Instead I expect he'll attempt to smother us in typical Beeno style with a lot of bluster.

Nevada I believe is an extreme case but my understanding is that you can wander into Walmart and buy semi automatic weapons without a gun licence or background check........

You need a drivers license or social security card to buy from Walmart, in a lot of states, but as Denny says, some states are quite different.

There is a list of questions you need to answer on the form.

Most are supposed to do a background check through the FBI, but whether that really happens all the time is anyone's guess.

From what I could find on the web:

The background check is often nearly instantaneous. But if the check turns up a possible match to a prohibited person, the system will instruct the dealer to delay the sale while the information is checked. If a resolution is not reached within three days, the dealer has the option to go ahead with the sale or wait for authorities to complete their investigation.

The NICS check was mandated by the Brady Act in 1993 and went live five years later. In the more than 14 years since, the FBI says 166 million NICS checks have been performed, resulting in more than 1 million federal denials, most often as a result of criminal convictions. In Connecticut last year, 237,496 background checks were performed.

That background check is not required when individuals who are not federally licensed gun dealers sell weapons informally or at gun shows or when weapons are transferred between relatives. This week, two U.S. senators, Republican Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania and Democrat Joe Manchin of West Virginia, released a proposal to extend background checks to all sales at gun shows, over the Internet and between strangers, while continuing to exempt “personal transfers” between relatives and friends.

Your understanding is not 100% correct. Walmart does sell guns but Walmart is a departmental store with a firearms dept. That does not mean that, while shopping for your groceries, you go to the guns shelf and chuck a few pistols and rounds of ammo in the trolley as well. That's also does not mean that they do not do background checks. The issue in the US is the difference between federal law and state law. http://smartgunlaws.org/gun-laws/policy-areas/background-checks/background-check-procedures/

I'm pretty sure MSN stated that in the state of Nevada no backgound checks or a gun licence is needed to buy guns or semi automatic weapons. Nevertheless it is clear that there is a lack of uniformity of rules between the states apart from the fact that US gun laws needs a massive re-balance.

Could all the half baked buffoons on the board take a deep breath and think before they post their absurd drivel. I posted that ISIS has claimed "credit" for the massacre. I trust the morons understand that is a true statement. I made no comment of my own.The huge irony is it is not clear what happened but morons here insist Isis could not possibly  be the culprit!!!!!!! Are you that crazy and brainwashed - they are claiming they did it and for all anybody knows the might have done it. ISIS have given the guy his ISIS recruitment name.Given the terror attacks that have happened in both Europe and the United states it is hardly surprising many suspect ISIS. To get all up in arms bceause i report that ISI has claimed the attack is astonish behaviour especially given what has happned in recent times. Now some clowns here forget that Paris was a gun free zone as is Chicago.  These things didn't happen on this scale in years before, something has changed. Radical islamic terror has arrived. Another fact mentioned was 70% of Americans are on a prescription drugs. As Tucker C arlson said this needs to be carefully and thoughtfully looked at not merely some empty head bleating on about banning guns which will NEVER happen in America.
Police now say they need to speak to the Asian girlfriend and we will have to wait for the facts to emerge.I see that witch Hillary Clinton had zero to say about that armed church member who stopped a massacre in church by shooting the terrorist. What a skank this vile corrupt creep is. Imagine supporting abortion up to term!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!A friend of mine years ago was at St James Church the morning that terrorist came in and shot people. A member of the congregation happened to have a gun and shot at the coward who immediately fled.Planes, guns, cars and knives do not kill people. People do. Beeno setting the record straight and knocking some sense into very thick skulls!

This whole thing was very carefully planned over a period of time. This guy did not snap. The "ASIAN" he was living with should know something. I also recall the British press covering up muslim terror by calling them Asians - also the R otherham groomers were said to be Asian. We shall see.
