We’re not concerned about the All Blacks – Louw; Planet Rugby

Springbok flanker Francois Louw says the Boks aren't too worried about facing the mighty All Blacks in next week's semi-final. 

South Africa booked their place in the semi-finals with a hardfought win over Wales at Twickenham before New Zealand crushed France 62-13 in Cardiff with a stunning display.

However despite that impressive performance, Louw was not overly concerned about facing the reigning champions.

“We managed to watch bits and pieces of the match last night. It was a great victory for them but we're not too concerned about them. To be the best you have to beat the best and we just have to take it week by week,” said Louw. 

“It’s always nice to play against the All Blacks, even more so in a World Cup. Our paths have crossed a lot in the past, it’s always a derby for us so we’re expecting a hell of a tough game and we will plan and execute it accordingly.”

The Boks managed to edge past Wales with a 23-19 victory and Louw feels that there is still room for improvement. 

"It wasn’t a perfect game from our perspective, particularly in the breakdown, there’s a few more tweaks here and there we need to do. We are going to review the game and then plan for the weekend. So we will have time to make the changes and take it from there." 

The victory over Wales came at price with hooker Bismarck du Plessis (hand injury) and lock Lood de Jager (foot tendon) in doubt for next weekend's semi-final clash.

“They are both immense players. Bismarck has really improved and his record speaks for itself. Lood has really stepped up well to that number five position too.

“He (Lood) presents himself massively on the field in our defence, he will be a big loss should it go that way and so will Bismarck (du Plessis)."

Francois Louw should be more worried about his own anonymous performances. Why we went into this tournament with Flouw instead of Heinrich Brussow or Jaco Kriel is beyond me.

francois "who ate all the pies" louw is the new the hide and seek champ of rwc 2015......the man has done nothing for 3 years. he must have some kind of dirt on meyer or he makes one hell of a cup of coffee.
brussouw and kriel is light years ahead of this clown.....

I am convinced that the only reason Flouw ever got a single international cap is because he's Jan Pickard's grandson or grand-nephew or something like that. If you look up the word "average" in any dictionary you should see a picture of Francois Louw. 
The only positive thing I'll say about this plodder is that he doesn't shirk his primary duties and hang just off the scrumhalf the way Schalk Burger does.

 Louw if fine against sides playing aless expansive game.Against the wee abs we need a Kriel.
I was dismayed by th way the Boks played against Wales. Direct and little else. The Welsh were surprised when Duanne showed a bit of skill at the end. So unexpected.There was no imagination just dour rug by. This side is capabale of so much more.  

They weren't expecting it because Habana was on the right and Du Preez was getting ready to play the ball in that direction. It was just a great read by Du Preez and work by Duane in getting the pass out. 

 i agree beeno but meyer's ultra conservative mindset will dictate this will be the pattern we will go forth with so dont expect any options against probably the best defence in the world. the ab's does not leak any tries and one off runners will be easy to read

 
I've said it over and over and I'll say it again ... the only loose forward worthy of his spot in the South African national side is Vermeulen.

The rest do not belong in a test arena.



 

 We played old bulle style rugby against the Welsh and scraped awin.
I am NOT advocating running everything but run off good ball and show some skills and creativity.

 i totally agree beeno......at the end of the day its rugby and to win you need to score more points than the other team....i know it sounds stupid but thats the goal of rugby at the end of the day. 
we need to exploit the opposing team to score those points and to be honest judging by what i have seen expect the boks back at tambo next week and monday

 Burger was man of the match. My only quarrel with him is his role that I believe is Meyer's doing.Burger is doing just fine.
But the fact is we need some extra pace when playing the wee abs. Who better than Kriel who was never selected.

 great comment beeno...i agree 100% burger is a class player but he is obviously following orders. kriel is a class player as well and post rwc is going to do great things when meyer has been fired from the job
