They did not catch England at a low point, they beat us by 7 points.....we had a perfectly good try disallowed which would have drawn the match !! They also beat Ireland by a 2 points, with a penalty that never was. So, I don't really think there was that much to crow about !!
And no, given their peformance and ours at the weekend, I should think we would have had a very good chance at beating them had we played each other on Saturday.
MO, as she keeps pointing out to you, is Irish, she just happens to live in Wales !

Been away playing golf!! delighted Wales won the grand slam, if they had just won by one point well one point wins a game.Great celebrations in Wales, my boys were both feeling the effects on Sunday.
England killed Ireland up front and deserved their win. I think as I said before Lancaster is doing a great job with them. I did enjoy the Sharks game.
I'm incredibly happy, Denny. I was simply pointing out Beeno's inaccuracies when he stated Wales caught us at a low point.....yes, we are rebuilding but 3 away wins ( something no-one else has done in the 6 Nations ever ), a win in France ( which no other international side has done in a very long time ), a win against Ireland for the first time in many years and a near miss against Wales at home hardly constitutes a low point, as he suggested !! But for a smidgen of luck, we could have been heading for the Grand Slam....how anyone can even consider giving the Coaching position to another candidate is beyond me.
We can hopefully build a good, successful side from here on in.

England played well against Wales and I felt Ireland were very unlucky to lose to Wales in the first round. Tiny things make this game go round, it seems.
I was merely pointing out that, once again, you're wrong in saying we are at a low point. How can a side that has never played before be at a low point ? There is nothing to judge them on....it is simply your perception that, because the England team have somewhat let themselves down of late, the whole rugby culture of the country is at a low point. As has been shown, we are not and it is not.

Becs I would like to point out that yes England did play well against Wales and France, but they were actually very poor and, even more, luck to beat both Italy and Scotland. The two best packs in the 6 Nations. This new found optimism must be tempered with a dose of perspective. My conclusion is that England are a team that is rebalancing itself, losing it's once feared power up front whilst becoming a little more adventurous amongst the backs. They still have a way to go; not that I am trying to be overly negative as I do believe they have tremendous potential. I must say though that the Welsh will have another wake-up call this year! Did they not learn from 2005 and 2008? They seem to have taken on the arrogance of their coach. One bad apple and all that. Basing much of their hype on a very fortuitous game against the Boks in the World Cup. See what happens when one loses perspective?
I think what you also need to think about is that those 2 away games were played on the 2 worst weekends for weather conditions, the situation in Italy was intolerable. This was a brand new team, with new caps and they have won away 3 times, a feat no other 6 Nations team has managed throughout the tournaments inception. What more do people actually want ? ! You also fail to realise the absolutely awful situation that greets an England team in Scotland. They also made the team walk at a snails pace into the ground behind a piper and only gave them 15 minutes to get settled before the game. None of which worked in terms of putting the team off their stride.
As for our forwards not being up to the task...did you watch the match on Saturday ? !
I am simply pleased that my team are at last getting back to concentrating on playing the game. They will lose matches and they will win matches, but as long as they continue to build a team like this, I will be happy. I think there is a great deal more to come from this team, and the inclusion of some other very good players in the not too distant future, if only the RFU make the right decision. As for losing perspective, I'm not the one claiming my team are going to walk all over anyone else. I hate bragging and I hate jingoism, I'll leave that to the rest of you !
And, as I have pointed out to you on another thread, Mallett still wants the job and is being interviewed this week.
