.....do we lose him and keep Fatty Malherbe. How do we lose Spedding and keep Lambie. How do we keep Whitley and lose that kid playing for Scotland. Lots of favoritism in SA rugby.

WP Nel was a nobody here in SA for years. Malherbe is 100 times better as are Marcel, Coenie and Koch. Lambie is a flyhalf....Spedding an average fullback.
Rate Dave Denton at 8, the Zimbo. We could have done with him in the ranks....stuff old WP and Spedding.

Mozart are as per normal clueless - hos player identification depends on his prejudice - not on anything else, That again depends n what threat the preset player pose to his favourites. It has nothing to do with rugby performance at all.
WP Nel was a flop on Super Rugby level - now suddenly this outburst - what a farce.

Funny stuff. WP is already being discussed as the tighthead of the tournament. He single handedly kept Scotland in the game. And here is the thing. Whereas Sio slaughtered Malherbe in the Aussie test, WP stood up for SA tightheads and literally scrummed his arm into oblivion.
Not as good as Fattie Malherbe....you have to be kidding.

3 WP Nel (Scotland): South Africa's loss is Scotland's gain as Nel's scrummaging makes him a shoo-in for the team of the tournament even though his side has been knocked out. Nel's dismantling of Scott Sio at the set-piece was impressive as it was the first time at this World Cup that the Wallaby scrum was under pressure. Also caught the eye on defence with six tackles.

Are you clueless again - the man was not up to standard on Super 15 level - so why should SA have retained him. He was worse than Heinke van der Merwe - another flop selected by Meyer and supported by you.

That wasn't my comment moron..it was Planet Rugby. Nel destroys the Aussie scrum. Fattie Malherbe doesn't take one step forward against Wales...no contest as to who is the better tighthead.

Do you ever watch rugby without trying to discredit players you dislike. There was only scrum where the Boks went forward during that match and that was towards the end of the first half. You apparently missed that one. I was horrified when Jannie came on and his first scrum turned out to be a belly-flop by him. We could not afford a kickable penalty at that stage of the game. Fortunately he was not too bad in later scrums.
As per normal you are the typical village idiot - you do not realize that for a scrum to go forward both props are needed - and Beast did not cover himself with glory in the game in any event. The only player causing real problems for the Welsh in scrumming were Nyakane.
Incidentally I read your quote above - village idiot - and it said nothing about Malherbe. Your spitefulness came out when you mentioned him.

It was the same scrum ...Jannie was moving his opponent back, when the scrum collapsed. We then reset and had the one decisive scrum of the game which set up the the try. Advantage Jannie.

Sure liar - there was no movement in the first scrum after Jennie came on and it went straight down. Jannie was lying on his stomach and it as a miracle that there was not a kickable penalty against the Boks and decided to hve the scrum reformed.
Your description of the scrum setting up the try was totally false as well/ That time Jannie was nothing more than firm - while Nyakane went forward in thr scrum - resulting in a slight wheeling of the scrum. Jannie's role was virtually zip in that so-called decisive scrum. If anybody needs praise for that it was Nyakane.

On the contrary, teams can't simply wheel at this WC ....you have to be going forward at tighthead. Going forward against an intentional wheel requires some serious scrummaging, which Jannie provided. By contrat Malherbe never took a step forward.

Liar as per normal - I wrote clearly about the one scrum that went forward and you lie about it now. By the way - last week you attacked Malherbe fr a slight wheel of the scrum and said exactly the opposite to what happened in the scrum that let to the try. Learn something about the game if rugby and stop coming up with junk postings based on prejudice. Jannie did not go an inch forward in that scrum before the try was scored - hence the .slight wheeling of the scrum.

Wrong. Both Jannie and Nyakane went forward and the scrum went up after which the Boks executed the wheel, which was part of the set move to get Vermeulen away on the blindside.

BS if both went forward why did the scrum wheel to the side it did. You are talking crap routinely and this is just another case. What about your lies about the USA game scrumming - why not repeat the junk of the wheeling scrum then?

The Scots' bind is skew . Clever move to get the shoulder. Check the bird view camera angles on the scrum. WP is a good player, but no world beater at 3. Better than some we tried though.

It's not my view Draad....the thought that he was a shoo in for TOT came from Rugby 365. And if you want to see a tighthead cramping in on the overhead footage, look at Malherbe, he was in the hookers position after most scrums against Wales

I'm not talking about Malherbe and if you want to parrot 365, at least look at some of the footage and decide for yourself, before generalizing like you did. I'm not saying I'm on the money, but you ain't actually telling me where I'm at fault...and if 365 is the one and only authority, you must agree that Victor is over the hill, Lood is King and DdA is the second coming at 12...which a presume you are not prepared to do.

PS, I have a reason for having to believe that WP Nel is a superstar. I would have been over the moon if he was, but sadly he is only a star and not good enough to bd a Bok regular. Better tha some of the others we tried recently, but Koch, Malherbe and even Jannie are better. A couple of Lions TH's too.

Well I will do that, but the view that he had a strong game started in the commentary box. He is not the first tighthead we never rated who did well overseas. Van de Linde improved, BJ Botha improved and Pieter de Villiers was a star for France...another player who seems to have escaped our net
Scrumming as an art form is taken seriously up north, no surprise Saffas improve.

I was a bit snotty...sorry.Incidentally, he is the first rugby player from my alma mater to play in a RWC playoff. We had a few blitz boks and 2 baby bok captains, and then some, but nothing substantial. Good, but not better than some playing here. Better than Marcel, Kruger and Coenie....to name a few though...so I hear what you're saying.

I recall lamenting the departure of WP Nel from the Cheetahs some years ago. A very promising rugged young 120 kg tighthead who got around the park pretty well.He certainly upset the OZ scrum and almost won the game for the Scots as Sio was penalised repeatedly.
Denton is also very good and we could also do with Spedding who would make a Bok RWC long before Kirchiner.
Those suggesting WP NEl couldnt scrum are talking twaddle and it sounds like sour grapes from blikkies and a few of the boys!!!! WP Nel moved for the money as havea host of others. he is in Rand terms earninga fortune playing forScotland so good luck to him. He has a future to consider.
Malherbe has scummed well thus far and those writing him off have been left with loads of egg.Why some oaks keep going wrong is a puzzle.

Beenz, I'm not saying he can't scrum, I'm saying he looked better than he is by the whole Scottish scrum bind and set. I'm not knowledgeable enough to judge the legality, but elementary physics shows that it would help the TH. It forces the LH to either scrum in or go either back or down and makes it difficult for the LH to keep his bind. Clever!
