Bok contenders

Rooi - good effort considering the restrictions, especially quota since those are the criteria Meyer will be subjected too. There really is not much point putting possible Bok lineups out there without catering to the 7 non-white player spots. Surely hope the WC squad isn't under that requirement, and it seems they may not be as the wording from what I have seen has carefully been "leading up to the World Cup".

Oimatey, I'm hoping that the embarrassment of the Cricket World Cup quota fiasco results in less stringent racial quota requirements for the Rugby WC.

I think the best we can hope for is an initial quota for the selection for the 31 man RWC squad and then no more quotas after that.

 I've heard about a rumor that Jaco Kriel has made him available for selection in the 7-Bok squad. The Sevens squad is off course sch eduled to go to the Olympic Games later in the year.

No additional names were given, but it appears that more current Boks are consi?ering such a switch.

Extraordinary how Michael praises DA so highly yet disregards de Jongh, yet de Jongh's work is so inter-twined in DA's successes. That really is remarkable, especially as Michael is a real rugby expert - his words not my own!

What I find amusing is that there are actually posters on this board ever hopeful of Meyer doing things differently to what we've seen these last 4 years.

They actually believe there's a chance Meyer'll grow a brain and select properly.

Let me be the first to dash your hopes ... nothing's going to change boys. Meyer has proven himself to be a fool time and time again. He is incapable of any form of sanity. It's beyond him.

Soooo ... expect him to select foolishly as always ... to bullshit the media as always ... to show his ignorance as always ... and finally to come up with the usual excuses why it didn't work.

Each day that goes by is one less for us to endure ... so it's not all doom and gloom.

DA Mike is spot on DA is a class act, de Jongh is a pretender and has stuff all to do with DA's success.......that has everything to do with how good DA is.....wake the fuck up you fool  

Lestat, De Jongh is dangerous in open play, and is a very effective player, but the space he requires to thrive basically does not exist in tests against top opponents. That is why he has basically been invisible when playing for the Boks. He is a very good player, but he is just not suited to test match rugby. Well, maybe he'd do well against weaker nations, but not against the top 6. It is just the way it is. 

 
De Allende is a 12 ... not a 13. Leave him there.

Not only is he a powerful ball carrier but has the ability to off load in the tackle putting his outside man into the gap.

We are looking for a 13. The 12 spot is sorted.

I like Mapoe and Vorster.

Forget about Serfontein. He was class at junior level. That I'm afraid is all she wrote. 

We have a problem at 13, and we've had one since Jaque Fourie left. Mapoe is decent, as is Vorster, but they are not the answer. I was hoping this years S15 would unearth some new talent at 13, but we are still just left with a bunch of maybe players. I don't have the solution, but the Boks certainly have the problem!

Well, when you have a problem like this where you don't have a world class player in a position, you pick the guy who's at least shown the best recent form in that position . . . and in this case that means Lionel Mapoe.

You guys can speculate about picking an inside centre or a wing or a fullback in the Springbok #13 jersey but if you're going to pick an outside centre to play as an outside centre, is anyone disputing Lionel Mapoe has been the best performing SA #13 in this year's S15?
