So Carbuncle...
What game were you clowns watching, PSDT carried on where Lood left off.......dominated the line outs, was imposing with ball in hand and smashed a few back in the tackle......joke is on you.
Let me guess the spilt ball is what defined his performance......much like Loods so called missed line out against Scotland.
PSDT had a good 20 min
OP. Moz, no real test for PSDT's abilities, but flaccid performance it was not.
As per Damian, I have gone over his game in detail. I know inside centre best of all the positions and have been very systematic and consistent in highlighting issues in his game. So far the fangirls cannot tell me why they like Damian. He cannot tell me very much about his game at all which leads any rational himan being ro conclude that they are merely bandwagon junkies. And if Damian costs us the WC then Meyer will take the rap and Damian will get off scot free.
Maalherbivor is inferior to Jannie. We cannot secure quality first phase possession at scrum time when he is on. And I haven't seen much else in general play to warrant his ascension to starting tighthead.
You know fuck all about what constitutes a good centre if you benchmark is boring Barry.
As for lock...Flip over Lood says it all - another clanger
Look here fuck wit you seem to pride yourself on being able to debate rugby......if that is the case don't insult me by lying about what I said....you fucking low life.
For the last time you fucking liar.....I said JJ's performance against the AB's was the best with ball in hand by a Bok 13 since readmission and I stand by that.
Do you get that you fucking waste of space
There is nothing worse than a liar......you lie because you lack substance and have no material to back your pathetic convictions up with.
You are fucking useless and keep getting exposed for the liar you are.
But why not man up and provide the evidence of me saying JJ was the best 13 since readmission......low life
Dave, you need counseling! Something to suppress that seething rage. I found Michael's thread and I will inevitably track down your post too. I have the patience.
I enjoy your threads because some are just about the most hilarious. You have been rating Kuridrani a better center than BOD - but thus far during the WC he was desperately poor in the two matches he played in. I am going to giv you the following stats and my comments on it:-
Kuridrani0/000/2/1348120010/50/021/0
"Mozart shout and scream about De Allende - and so does Desert Fox - but the above looks ugly for the best center in the world - according to them.
* Is he tractoring?* Is he weak in his upper body - 1 line break and 2 defenders beaten?* Is he being targetted by opposition teams? * Does he like to give away penalties and donate yellow cards?
If the above was De Allende's stats we would have got books written about it on this site and it would have been quoted over and over."
You have avoided the above discussion like a plague. One wonders how you manage to state that you are an expert in evaluating center performance - when you foul up by stating that Kuridrani is so wonderful.
Incidentally - I also liked Barry as a center - but his contribution was basically as a defender - for the rest he was never better than average. He definitely was better than Francois Steyn as a defender - but Barry was better than Steyn on attack. But then since 2012 every other Springbok center used by Meyer was better than Fransie on attack.
My own conclusion is that you and Mozart has the same idea about backline functioning - the only role of backlines is defense - attacking play is merely by accident - not required from players outside flyhalf or by a stretch inside center - whose only attribute need to being a boot kicking away balls - irrespective of how inaccurate or aimless the kicks are. If players have the latter attribute (having a good boot) - nothing else really counts - hence your rating of Morne and Steyn as top class players.
It is funny how you and Mozart also have the attitude that major rule changes made by the then IRB in 2008 had no impact on the game and that rugby performances has not changed since. The fact that the NF teams playing style has also changed has gone totally unnoticed. That the fact that there is much more emphasis on keeping the ball in hand than there was in the past is being ignored.
The other issue is the one that you and Mozart keeps bringing up is the good performances of Matfield and the deficiencies of De Jager. Fact is that Matfield used to be a lock whose top attributes throughout his career related to -
* excellence in line out play - both calling and catching;* catching kick-in balls by the opposition - rare since balls are not kicked to where the same players are; and * ball carries and defense wider out.
Throughout his career Matfield never had any grunt and he never really contributed to Tight 5 play where at his prime Bakkies Botha was excellent and the absence of that from his fellow lock coupled to the fact that the rest of the Tight 5 players were above average was not such a major factor. Matfield was never a player who contributed to Tight 5 play - carrying of balls by him in traffic was non-existent. The idea of yours to put Alberts in the team as a support to off-set the deficiencies of Matfield in the Tight 5 is really silly and represents the worst possible solution to our forward situation.
What both you and Mozart lost sight of is that Matfield performances since 2009 has been on the skids. He is not as good as he used to be in line out work and his ball carries and defense wider out has lost much of its venom. You refer to Matfeld as an all-round player and one assumes it relates to an all-round lock - which Matfield in his prime in reality never was and is even less in evidence at present..
I used to rate Matfield for his positive attributes in the past - especially those listed above - but despite your protestations to the contrary - those attributes have been less effective than it used to be. In view of that our Tight 5 has indeed became a Tight 4 and we have lost our competitiveness in Tight 5 play and our ability to win matches has declined. Whenever Matfield was playing at lock that was particularly in evidence and our match losses as a result has mounted.
In our matches against the AB's, as well as in other tests played there was in particular one element that counted heavily against us - the lack of a third option in line -out players. That option was not available and there was nobody to contest balls in throws to for instance Read. That handed a degree of supremacy in line out play to opposition teams. In the absence of a third option we tried to use Burger and Vermeulen - but that never really was effective.
When I made a comment about Du Toit being brought in to be a third line out option I got crucified by the two of you. Under the circumstances a real option. I would definitely play Du Toit at 7 and Burger at 6 against the AB's and even against the Aussies. I would not play Matfield against either of those two teams - since he is really not the line-out competitor he used to be. An example of that was evident in crucial line-outs in both tests against the AB's last year. .
This is standard BS on the part of the Low Life - the biggest skunk ever on this site. H cannot discuss rugby issues and is imploding himself - since he talks only BS when trying to discuss rugby issues and turn nasty - and viciously so - when eh gets cornered. He is no asset to this site at all.
To an extent I accept the comments on the issue of the strong teams in the pool - but for the rest ZI do not accept that Kuridrani was impressive in the games against Fiji and England either. Taking into account the fact that both teams mentioned do not have the top class centers in them - the question is - why did he not shine in such company.
Lets be frank - I do not compare stats - I was partly joking with my questions and observations. Where i was serious is your rating of Kuridrani and his performnce at center in those two games. To be quite frank - his defense in both games was totally inadequate and he showed preciously little in attacking play.
Your emphasis on De Allende is a repeat of what you normally write about him - to be quite frank rarely consistent with facts. Insofar as carrying the ball up - with respect - it is garbage. There is no center that more frequently carry up balls directly than De Allende and his effectiveness in doing that is rarely stopped by less than two or three tacklers. You apparently refuse to recognise that fact. How many defenders - inside centers and other backline players does De Allende has to beat when going direct up against them before you realize you are wrong. He has done that to SB Williams, Nonu and Francois Steyn - to name just a few of the top ones and went through them (matter of fact the way he disposed of Frans Steyn was a joke) but you refuse to accept it as factual.
The issue where I think you are wrong is your apparent disagreement with the following issue:-
"As the video clearly shows, Damian attacks the spaces between defensers or weak shoulders, and typically one on ones against forwards."
A center who only carries a ball up - as you call it - is effectively an ineffective center or not a center at all as clearly stated by Plumtree iro Francois Steyn. If he is unable to vary his style of play such a player is highly ineffective. Players who only carry the balls up and not try and beat an opponent by concentrating on spaces between defenders are NOT real international centers. The Aussies target that more than they target anything else - hence their effectiveness.
Sorry - but I seriously disagree with you on this issue.
Mozart ... your attempts at vindicating Matfield's selection is bordering desperation.
Running down the other talented, YOUNGER locks in the country isn't going to change what Matfield's become.
Meyer has made a habit of playing guys out of position. He's done this deliberately to vindicate the inclusion of his favourites.
Play the man out of position a few times and then slot him back in where he belongs and if he takes a little long to settle then it's cause he's useless ... "I told so"
That's the only way he can justify his bum chum's inclusion.
Much like you, he doesn't like PSDT because he's a threat to Matfield's reserved spot ... same goes for Pat "The Friggin Awesome" Lambie ... any old excuse to bring "skop verskrik" Steyn in.
You like Fat Fransie ... and because you do suddenly De Allende is not test material.
No other reason than trying to make room for you favourites.
You like the weakling Jannie and because you do, Malherbe or for that matter any and every other tight head is substandard.
I've heard it all before.
You are an open book to me. You've become such a bore.
Bring back the Mozart of old. He was at least an interesting challenge.
Quick, witty, funny at times, sharp!! Now we have to contend with ... another Fox type.
It is wise for you not to read what I wrote - because it cuts your BS contributions to pieces. Someone must bring some reality to this site - since you clutter it up with BS.
You really are convinced in your own mind about De Allende and it is clear that everyone else commenting on him is delusional and you are right. The opposition may target him because he is considered to be dangerous - so that shows they also regard him as dangerous.
There is no indication that any of the opposition 12's or team has sussed him out as you claim at all. He still have an impeccable record insofar as line breaks and defenders beaten are concerned.
Be it as it may - I really think you are talking crap - so lets leave it there
