windpomp you are of course a bulle supporter so everything has to be taken with a dozen pinches of salt when discussing a bulle player.

Our Bok pack has not been as dominant as it should have been for the sound reasons I gave. This has effected both Spies and Brussouw. Hence I woul dlike to see them playing where the Boks have a dominant tight five.

Spies is a superb athlete but under performs. To me he lacks something and maybe its heart. Something has not been right with Spies and most folk know this although the head in the sand bulle like you wont have noticed of course.

You and Owen Meany are peas in the pod - maak al die bulle bokke and the bulle legends stuff  that was trotted out by mean ou. Hahahahahahaha it was a big laugh.

No windpomp face the facts - Spies needs to up his game. As for Vermulen now there is a forward in the real Bok tradition  -an 80 minute battler who makes a real physical impact - not like wee victoria and spiesies. Add in potty and stegsies and no wonder the bulle went backwards last season. No we want real forwards. Spies has the physical attributes but doesn't come to the party enough.

Ad for flyhalf Morne i sth eincumbent but those young guns have to prove they are better this season. Fortunately lambie, Elton and Goosen will all be starting for their franchises so we will see.

Windpomp what spies lacks is assertiveness. h ehas the attributes to b eworld class but needs to mentally beleive it.

I am hoping that he comes right. It will be interesting to see what the captaincy of the bulle does to his game. Also what effect wearing pink downunder will have. hahahahahaha

Make no mistake if Vermuelen and Alberts etc up the ante Spies may battle to retain the 8 jersey. Hopefully he knows this even if some bulle supporters have no clue.

I cannot say how much I am hoping for a resurgence in Bok forward play this year. Oh that Meyer recognises what Bok rugby is all about.

@Beeno. Ahhh so you are seeing the light at last and agrees with me in a way. It was not after all Spies who was at fault. What you do fail to prove is where and how he underperforms. That is only a convenient opinion, as a severely biased Stormers supporter whose opinion should be taken with a dozen pinches of salt. You have no single shred of an example of where and when he lacked assertiveness. I have said that he did not disappear during the RWC and was challenged. I motivated my opinion and provided supporting data. What have you got, other than an opinion. Vermeuelen and Alberts have nothing on Spies. You and your idol, have both tried to prove that Alberts was one up on Spies, on SS, and I gave you the evidence to the contrary. I was told that Spies never offloads while Alberts "does it all the time". When we had a look at the hard facts, Spies had more off-loads than Alberts. My guess is that both Alberts and Vermeulen are going to have a battle on hands to get the 8 jersey away from Spies.

Windpomp I would like to see spies get physical and not only against the opposing scrummie. Sure he looks good when compared to wee matfield but then who doesn't. Some big hits and busting tackles, driving the ball up etc.

Well that eliminates two mentioned captains. Schalk looks like he is out for a long time. And Strauss is no international player, slow as a carthorse and WP Nel ran right through him for the try.

 Rubbish, Strauss had a good game and WP Nel did not go through him for the try, Josh was obstructed trying to make the tackle on Nel. I bet Strauss is quicker than Schalk. Josh was easily one of the best SA loosies on display over the weekend and once again led his side to victory

Josh has a big battle to make the side. Juandre Kruger with his pace would make a better 7 as well a sothers.

 Beeno once again you are speaking complete rubbish. Why on earth would you want to move a lock to flank. Kruger is a good lock, he is not a flank, much like Elstadt is a good lock, not a flank.

You lot need to wake up to the fact that Josh Strauss is a quality player. Bloody hell, I have heard it all - he not quick enough for test rugby - what complete rubbish - for a start when was speed a prerequisit for a blindside flanker and to insinuate that players like Schalk, Alberts, Deysel and Smith are faster than Josh is a joke.

If Meyer has any sense, Josh will form part of the Boks future. The guy was awesome last year, easily the best 7 in the country by some distance. He has more skills to offer than a player like Schalk, plus he is just as hard and probably stronger. At 115kg, he has plenty of beef and grunt.

@Saffex: Rubbish, JS made his mark more as a captain than a player. He played a decent game but more as a 8 than a 7. IMO even Vermeulen is a better 7 and 8 than him. That goes for Scalla as well. Still early days, but on the form of the previous weekend JS will not have even a sniff at the bok side.

Be reasonable Dave. Josh has to prove himself and has some fierce competition. Those are the simple facts. There is no certainty about him getting in and the captaincy issue is another matter as well. We shall see.
