I'm currently based in Mexico city and it's difficult to comprehend coming from European perspective the sheer scale of the mania here. Over 1 million people turned up to their main street, la reforma to watch it. The atmosphere in the Azteca will be a major factor for England this Sunday

That first half Mexican display was as good as any team I've seen in this World Cup. Torrid pace, crisp passing, defending every blade of grass, and two very nice finishes. England should be paying attention, as this is their likely opponent, should they get past DR Congo, as expected.

On one hand, I think that Mexico's style plays into England's strengths. England struggle with tight defenses, but a fast, open game – I could see ENG relishing this.

OTOH, Mexico...with that pace...in that altitude ...with those fans...? I'd give them better than a puncher's chance.
